Yo guys, Boy Meets World sequel

Annnnd boom goes the dynamite. The sequel the world has been holding its breath for is finally upon us. That's fuckin right yo -- coming soon from Disney Star Wars is Girl Meets World. Picking up where the critically acclaimed TGIF series left off, Girl Meets World will follow Cory and Topanga's pre-teen daughter in, uh, elementary? - junior high let's say.

As you can see from my source article, there are already debates going on about how they'll manage the creation of the new show without retconning the old one. Luckily that old classic was written to be interpreted in many ways, so hope of a "flawless victory" does exist.

Some episodes were ok, most were trash. But I will say this, It was an intelligent show aimed at children that grew with its audience. You don't see that much these days.

Fuck. That. Boy Meets world was really awesome, remember watching it when I was a kid (around 10-12) and loving the hell out of it, so this will naturally suck.

Interesting.... I think it has no chance in hell of being anything close to the original but it really all depends on who they get to play the girl and if they make it watchable for adults.

Like the advent of those kind of shows has really passed, but hopefully it isn't bad.

There's also a Casablanca sequel in the works.

I always found it incredibly amusing when the show tried to cover something serious. Like when Cory's friend was dating a black woman and his dad or someone was making a big deal out of it. The cheesiness of it all made laugh.

Is Feeny still teaching?

I'd much prefer someone bringing back The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Anyway, Disney Channel comedies are pretty much the new TGIF, so shows of that variety are bound to show up. Look at Wizards of Waverly Place. It's basically a new version of Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

They've got a show about a talking dog airing now. You know, average whitebread family who own a talking dog. You're expecting more from a network that greenlights something with that premise? The show makes Small Wonder look like Shakespeare. Over on Disney XD there's another gem which stars a hyperactive puppet. I am expecting a series about a chimpanzee who teaches multiracial inner city kids next.

i'm oddly happy that this will happen, and once i'm done watching Bones i'll probably pick up the DVDs for Boy Meets World cause i remember loving the show.

I'm going to watch it. I just hope it retains some of the same flavor of what made Boy Meets World so great. (Also I don't know if I want it to be exclusively about the girl but who knows?)

I see nothing wrong with Disney trying to modernize a great show for today's generation. I loved Boy Meets World while growing up, why shouldn't my kids do so as well?

Yeeeeeessss! I don't care. This will be awesome or...you know...kinda ok and everyone will forget about it. I used to watch Boy meets world all the time. I probably won't watch much of this one but I will watch the shit out of that first episode.

I don't have any dog in this race, really. I never watched Boy Meets World for some reason. I was probably too young for it when it was on. I do think it would be pretty fascinating for an actor to reprise a childhood role after growing up, though.

I saw this just makes me feel old now.

Dude, awesome. Boy Meets World was really fantastic at times. Glad to see another generation will have something sort of similar.

I don't recall this episode.

I'm sure kids will like and adults will think it's terrible, like every other show people have nostalgia for. With that said though, I loved that show when I was younger.

Any word on whether the old actors will reappear? I can't imagine them doing this without Feeny at the very least.
