Getting hardcore nostalgia from this thread.
Would love to see a reboot of MedEvil. Tons of other games but MedEvil comes to mind maybe more than the rest.
What happened to my Wild Arms!!
Totally. That series started to suck ever since they added randomly triggered encounters...
Great answer, but let's all remember....
And no, this isn't a troll. That game was stupid awesome.
A new No One Lives Forever game would be awesome. Somehow I almost forgot about this game even though I had so much fun with it when it was released (fuck the shitty PS2 version though)
The coop in NOLF 2 was also pretty amazing. I think it would be an enjoyable game on PC and console alike with a setting which still hasn't been used too much.
While it would be ideal if the PS4 gets a lot of new IPs instead of having to go back to rejuvenate old ones, here are some which I think still have plenty of potential left in the tank:
Legacy of Kain (Would probably need a reboot or fresh start at this point.)
Tenchu (Would probably need a reboot or fresh start at this point.)
A few of them did get a lot of chances but died out for various reasons but I think there is still some potential left.
Oh, I'm not sure. Most of the stuff I liked in 1999 wouldn't play very well today, and I don't think a new or HD remixed Crash Bandicoot would be as fun as I hope. I just think a new Syphon Filter would just go to show that Syphon Filter wasn't all that good to begin with. PS1 games, and early PS2 games were created in a time when camera and movement controls were awful. These games belong to an era that's ended, and I don't think dragging them back into the public eye will lead to anything special.
I feel like PS1 era JRPG's and tank control survival horror/suspense games as a whole could make a comeback in the hands of the right developers. Surely these games could be made by small teams and vastly improved on by today's hardware and design sensibilities. The number of HD remakes that have come out proves that people are willing to go back to those oldies, and they have to be motivated by more than just nostalgia.
To name a few...
i like you
Edit:
i would also love to see parodius/sexyparodius and maybe either a HD version or just a reboot of pandemonium
One day, just one day I would love to see a new one of these:
One of the best/dumbest shooters I have ever played.
@mrsignerman44: 8 year old me & present me are in 100% agreement with you
Legends of Mana, I first played it with PS1, really cool. Or Megaman Legends. Crash Bandicoot is also cool. There were really awesome games before.
Lair. No, don't go! Stay with me on this one.
I just starting playing this admittedly pretty crummy game but there are slight glimmers of goodness. I want it to be a game where there is a huge war on several fronts and you basically fly in with your dragon wherever you want and wreck shop - flay battalions of troops, destroy war machines, whatever. I would want it set up so you decide to do side missions (protect supply line, etc) as you see fit rather than them being dictated to you as main missions.
edit: @nabokovfan87 Holy crap! Yeah! I'm not the first person calling out in the darkness for a new Lair!!!
my first experience with a playstation was in a currys store playing destruction derby i think we are due a new one by now or at least a remake. since i carnt get away with smashing in to other cars in the real world id like the next best thing
@walkertr77: I'd love to see this make a come back, but now I'm sad to remember that Rik Mayall died and wouldn't be able to reprise his role as the voice over guy in the game :(
@whitegreyblack: I'm with you on this one.
Lair was certainly a piece of shit, it looked like shit, controled like shit, the story was shit, all in all shit everywhere.. and don't get me started on those fucking towers or whatever that in order to destroy you had to violently shake the sisaxis like an idiot.
BUT, the feeling that there was this huge battle being waged on many fronts and that you're just a dude in the middle of it was there, and it was great, enough to keep me playing that damn game.. crashing down in the middle of a battalion and wrecking the shit out of it felt awesome.
Now if they brought it back dissing the mission based design for an open world one, where there's this dynamic war being waged and one which you can affect in many ways, now that would be awesome, granted of course the dev can nail the graphics and controls.
