Overview
Ghost Toys Castle is the second dungeon from
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. It's a dark, secluded stronghold using a closed down hot springs as a front. The Peach Mountain Shoguns use it as a base to train all the kidnapped children able to dance for their nefarious plans. This castle has many traps, trickier platform navigation, and several toy themed obstacles that figure into puzzles. The Wind-Up Camera, a special device for
Ebisumaru, can be found here.
Interior Layout
The castle has three floors and a basement, but most of the rooms are found on the first two floors. The basement has one heavily flooded area, and the third floor is reserved exclusively for the boss. A new ghost enemy makes an appearance here. It is transparent and, at first, cannot be attacked. Ghosts can only be destroyed after being flashed with the Wind-Up Camera so they turn solid. Other enemies include bouncing red daruma dolls, heads on a stick that shoot projectiles, and charging toy robots.
Traps and puzzles are mostly based around toys, but simpler obstacles like spike traps and poisonous water are found in many rooms. The first goal of the castle involves turning on the power to a crane game in order to win the Wind-Up Camera. It reveals ghosts, hidden items, and the weak point of the castle boss. The upper floors have giant spinning tops that act as platforms over dangerous poison and automatic jump ropes as trip wires. A giant pool table and billiard balls also figures in later on in the castle. The boss of Ghost Toys Castle is
Dharumanyo, the Surrender Robot. He's a giant nesting doll that unfolds arms with sharp claws.
Story
The main antagonist of the game finally shows his face after Goemon and friends defeat Dharumanyo.
Spring Breeze Dancin' appears in a hologram to scold his underling
Colon for failing. They exchanges a few words before abandoning Ghost Toys Castle to prepare for their next operation named The Great Stage Plan.
