I recommend you to play Ghostbusters.

We never got a movie Ghostbusters 3 so the actors and writers of those 2 classic movies have now made us a videogame, which IS our Ghostbusters 3. End result is a game full of references to movies, but it’s also a quality game in its own right.

    PURE GHOSTBUSTERS

Story sets off where Ghostbusters 2 ended. This time there’s a fifth ghostbuster: you as a nameless and voiceless rookie. Be prepared to hunt many ghosts, visit exotic locations and listen a lot of pseudo-scientific gibberish along the way. Ghostbusters has always been full of comedy and this aspect is well implemented within the game. In order to get everything out of it I recommend that you watch the movies first.

    DETAILED GRAPHICS

Game uses that familiar Unreal Engine and because of it graphics are extremely detailed and rich, but character models look like they were made out of plastic. Animations are smooth and the use of colors is so vibrant that you never feel like you’re playing a horror game with ghosts.

    ORIGINAL SOUND

Sound is in a word original. Ghostbusters theme is here as well as original music that fits the action nicely. Sound effects are familiar and when a pack of ghosts attack the air seems to change thanks to music. Voice acting is done by the original Ghostbusters and as you might expect they all do a good job in returning to their roles. Only exception is Bill Murray: he sounds like he is not sure what is happening or what he should be doing.

    THIRD PERSON GAMEPLAY

Gameplay is quite linear third person action game, controlled in a similar fashion you may remember from games like Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid 4 or Resident Evil 5. Story is divided into chapters and after finishing them you can replay them in any order. This feature is especially helpful when hunting down achievements.

Core gameplay itself is mainly navigating indoors, catching ghosts, collecting stuff and listening to other people’s dialog. It all comes together very nicely and since it’s a story-driven game the linearity is not a problem in any shape or form. Game uses an autosave, which is OK as long as you remember it and always keep playing until you reach a checkpoint.

    CO-OP MULTIPLAYER

Maybe surprisingly there’s a multiplayer component involved. Goal is to play in co-op along three other people and mostly just catch ghosts or prevent them from capturing artifacts. It’s a lot more fun than I just made it sound like and even though you may not be busy with it for weeks and months, it’s still a good add-on that you should definitely try.

    FIVE STARS

Ghostbusters is a love letter to those who remember the franchise from the 80’s or otherwise like the movies. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be fan this is still a high quality video game that you should experience.
