I'm loving the game so far but I keep dying trying to double jump over pits.  Is it just me or is jumping not very responsive? I really have to press X hard and at the right time to make Kratos double jump. It's just frustrating. Also why did they bother giving Kratos wings when he can only glide and not fly?

Kratos is like a fat turkey or chicken, he can kinda glide a little but can't really fly.

In GOW 2 you rip them off Icarus back, they are kinda useful.

he can fly in the icarus vent thing

It sounds like you might just be having issues with your controller.  The platforming isn't great, but it isn't because the jumping is unresponsive.

they never gave him wings. he ripped off icarus' wings and he just holds them out and glides with them. its pretty funny actually.  did you ever play god of war 1 and 2? it might have helped. it makes sense he cant straight up fly with them, because he just flaps em up and down, if they were his real wings he could control them more and actually fly probably. 

There is nothing wrong with the jumping. Check your controller.

I had no problems jumping in Uncharted 1 & 2.  I never beat of GOW 1 or 2. I did beat Chains of Olympus though.

Ignore the elitists in this thread. The jumping is a little janky in this game. The game seems to ignore your input during certain frames of Kratos' jump animation. I never had problems with the jumping in GOW1 and 2 but this game can be frustrating until you adjust to the weird timing.

How does he bother gluing the wings to his back? i just saw him rip them off Icarus's back

In God Of War II he torn them out of Icarus so he could fly across a chasm or whatever. I forgot exactly what he needed to do but it was story related.

In God of War 2, Kratos was on his way to the sisters of fate, but Icarus showed up and got in a fight with him, and they both started falling down a chasm leading to Hades. Kratos then rips his wings off and lets him fall to his death. The purpose for the wings was to get out of Hades, even if he couldn't just directly fly out. Since he never got rid of them, it makes since that he would keep them in 3, just like the Golden Fleece.
