The best way I think I can describe how fun God of War is, is this way: You know when you're playing a game, and your really should stop, so you say to yourself "I'll stop at the next save point." Where do I begin? God of War is a unique take on action-adventure games as it integrates simple but effective combat with a powerful story of redemption. The variety of creatures from Greek mythos (e.g. the minotaur, medusa...) really makes the game enjoyable as it keeps each area fresh. The graphics are pretty impressive as well for the Playstation 2 system. I loved God of War, it was a short experience, but I'm kinda glad it was. The story was great, the graphics were impressive, and they took a boring hack and slasher game and turned it into a fun puzzle solving platformer. This game has got some of the highest production values ever to grace the PS2. The music is great, the graphics are great, the architecture is great, and all these things work together really seamlessly. So as an audio/visual experience God of War is a real treat. This game maybe would deserve 5 stars if the game designers weren't evil sadistic bastards. For some reason, they interrupt enjoyable action and platforming with mind bogglingly stupid puzzles. I'll be honest, I wasn't a very big console gamer for a large part of my life. I used to live and breath PC games. I had a Nintendo and a Dreamcast, both of which I got for free.
