Known as the mad lion for his ferocity and battle prowess, Goldark's escape from imprisonment and usurpation of his brother's throne through murder gave the rest of Legandra much cause for concern. When Goldark's nation of Fandaria  declared war on the rest of the continent, the continent's fears were realized.
While Goldark casts himself as a power-hungry dictator, his own inner agenda is somewhat more complex.
As a playable character, Goldark is a physically powerful general with solid command of troops and effective spells.
His attacks are Sonic Boom, Holy Blast and Cross Rush.

Goldark's army

Fandaria, is as expected, one of the strongest nations at the game's beginning. Not only are Karhaz, Gaul and Scythe all excellent generals, but they begin the game at higher than average levels, making quick conquest easier. Goldark is confronted early on by his nephew Talon who, while he commands a powerful force, isn't too much trouble given the strength of Goldark's own followers. Victory in this battle sees a further seven generals added to Goldark's army.
After a few turns, Gaul and Scythe bring monstrous reinforcements to Goldark's side with Zado & Ryskim, powerful generals with an abundance of magic points and excellent troops, as well as the dependable Santana and the utterly mediocre Kyoem.

Story mode

Goldark's scenario is probably the most unusual in the game. None of the conquered monarchs or their loyal officers join until all of the continent has been subjugated by Fandaria. While this might seem to put Goldark at a disadvantage, his army is sufficiently powerful to conquer the continent rather quickly, especially with the help of the monster generals.
Goldark's story mode is marked by a conflict between Karhaz & Lyria on one side, and Gaul & Scythe on the other as these core generals struggle to either reinforce or erode Goldark's conscience.
