Heya!

For any who don't already know, the err... official? guild leaders for the Giant Bomb Guild Wars 2 Guild (link) have been chosen from amongst the community. These are RobbieMac, Dark_Lord_Spam, myself (selfconfessedcynic) and Maystack.

What you can expect from us:

• We will be an active presence.
• We will establish reasonable rules and enforce them to the best of our ability.
• We will strive to be fair and evenhanded.
• We will be approachable - we aren't gods, and we don't expect to be treated as such. If you think I'm a jerk, tell me so.
• We will be open to suggestions and criticism. (This is an important one)

Your Rights:

• You can call us down at any time. If you think one of us isn't right for the position, and others agree with you, so be it.
• You can hold us accountable for our actions.
• You can talk smack about us at any time. Go ahead, shout YOU'RE A BIG FAT NINNY, and e-punch me in the face. We can't ban you for something like that, so feel free (within reason, of course).

Q: Who chose you?!

Well, RobbieMac started the giant bomb guild, so it was only fair that he had the initial decision. Plus, it's not like anyone here is legitimately qualified to be a GW2 guild leader - so it may as well be us, right? We're all newbies when it comes to GW2.

Q: Rules!? WHAT RULES!?

Q: Rights and expectations are all fine and dandy, but what about in-game power? What will you have that we don't?

Well, firstly, we wont be doing shady shit like reserving the best loot in guild storage or anything like that. Essentially, our "powers" will be restricted to what ANet puts in GW2, and as for Giant Bomb, we're just normal users.

Stuff we can do will likely be things like the ability to add or kick players, raise officers and more guild leaders, writing daily messages & organising events. Beyond that, we only have the power you give us - if you want us to help you resolve a dispute, come to us with the problem.

S: Pick Me! Pick Me! I want to be a leader too!

If you want to be a guild officer right now for some reason, present your argument and we'll have a look at it. Same for being another guild leader. Also, if you're in some random time zone and have evidence of high activity, you're more than welcome to join us.

Q: What happens if the guild has to split due to server BS?

From current testing, we won't be. Our guild is on the Yak's Bend server until further notice.

Q: What do you guys think of gamespot community guys joining the guild, now that GB has joined with CBSi?

Well - consider it like any other gig. Post here (preferably, or message us) with a short summary of your IRL background - not anything out of your comfort zone, mind - and reasons why you think you're good for the job.

Oh, if you're from like the UK, for example, definitely include that - at the moment I believe we have two US siders and me (Australian).

Assuming we have enough people that want to get serious about PvP in this game, we should have a PVP Leader/Officer.... just my input...

I would definitely be part of the PVP group if that was the case :)

@Sjupp: Currently this is an international guild.

The truth is we don't really know how the servers will be set up at all. Chances are high that they will be located in every region, and we'll end up going for a server based in the US - again, this may come down to a vote.

At the moment, this isn't too much of a bad thing, as I get pings of about 250 to US servers in the original guildwars which renders the game quite playable for any build other than an interrupter and any circumstance other than ultra competitive PvP. On the other hand, if there's enough outcry for the EU guys to go for a server based closer to home, then we'll have a think about either picking that as a guild or splitting the guild.

I'll probably end up being one of the guys who heads up the potential non-us guild, along with anyone else from EU or Oceania that is appropriate - Seppli, for example, is a european guy who is holding off joining the guild until the server situation is more clear.

That said, I would rather the guild stayed together - considering that the ultimate goal for this is fun, rather than ultra-competitiveness.

ED: Oh, and we'll put up a poll closer to release to judge where our members come from - in order to give us a better idea as to which servers would be good to go for.

During the last beta I had no trouble at all playing PvP from Europe on a US server, structured PvP might have suffered a little but I can't really judge that yet since I'm not really that good at PvP in games like this. WvW worked great, same with PvE and I don't mind having a US server as my home server so I can play with you guys in PvE/PvP and just guest on a EU server when there is no one to play with.

I'd like to welcome @shinboy630 to our (now) growing list of officers. Good to have you duder.

ED: Oh, and @Xyber did you post that in the right spot? This is the leadership thread and that looks like it should have gone in the guild one.

Yeah - using a US home server from across the proverbial pond works rather well, and the idea of guesting on your local sounds great to me. Also, guilds have been confirmed to work internationally, so it looks like everyone can find the right solutions for themselves.

I don't see any reason I shouldn't be an officer! I shower regularly.

Also make guild on the YAKS BEND server.

Just edit your OP, then make sure you have both rows of buttons showing above the edit box and click "Code". From there find the "Guild Officers" title and whack the above code just below that. Hopefully that'll work.

They're in alphabetical order. Also it looks like you need to move Maystack's image to the Guild Leader section.

@Chavtheworld: Thanks for the effort Chav. I'll look into it tomorrow morning when I'm not so tired.

Also, editing on Chrome finally fixed itself.

@selfconfessedcynic: Ah that's good. I also tried to add alt text so that when you mouse over the images they display the names of the Officer they belong to, however GiantBomb's javascript(?) photo arranger thingy that puts them in neat little boxes stopped that from working it seemed. You could always just manually insert img tags in the code for the table so the pictures were in the cell for that leader/officer, which might be a better way to do it.

I was able to change all of the images to links to each person's profile however - and have added a listing at the top for each, so that is something at least.

Having just joined the Giant Bomb family I must say I am very please with the level of professionalism being displayed here. Just making my rounds and saying hi. I'll see everyone on mumble come thursday but PM me whenever. Looking forward to it everyone. P.S. I won't ask for a position of leadership. I will earn it with the skulls of my vanquished foes.

Looking at te EU side, Depending on if the guys there find having 3 doods maintaining the guild stuff ( i realise there will probably be some overlap so 3 might be the magic number), I'll throw my hat in for EU officering if any more officers are required. I'll be on evenings (GMT) during the week but likely a good portion of the weekend unless her indoors decides otherwide, but since she's pickng it up as well i imagine we'll both be on a fair amount. I'll mostly be PVE but probably keep my hand in with PVP in case i decide to go down that rabbit hole. Not sure what the split of EU ,US and rest of world is so 3 might be enough. I've done a bit of officerings in the past on other mmo's so i know the score. Feel free to pencil me in if you EU guys need a hand in our timezone(s). If not I'll see you guys 'n' gals in game anyway so it's no bother.

@ONIKAGEI: Just to add to what @RobbieMac said, don't think of it as EU having only a leader and two officers, but that the guild has leaders and officers from every region, covering (as best we can) the various hours of the day.
