She was a champion created by Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik. The oldest know champion of Kralkatorrik, freed by the Elder Dragon's control thanks to the Forgotten and was killed for her betrayal.
Gwen is a child (and later hero) found in the Pre-Searing phase of Ascalon, in the start of the game. She follows the player around, playing her flute. After the Searing, she is not seen again. In the expansion Eye of the North, she is encountered again as a level 20 Mesmer. The player learns of her fate during and after the Searing, and she is added to the party.
King Jalis is the Dwarven king, on the Deldrimor side of the civil war over the Shiverpeaks in the first campaign. He allows the player(s) (and Prince Rurik) to cross the Shiverpeaks on their way to Kryta.
Kormir is a spearmarshal of the Sunspears, who strives to become the greatest Paragon. She has trained more Sunspear recruits than any historian can remember. Her experience and skills have earned her a position as head of the Order. Players first meet Kormir at the beginning of the Nightfall expansion.
Mhenlo is a monk, first encountered as "Brother Mhenlo" in the Pre-Searing phase of Ascalon. He is treated as a member of the party led by Prince Rurik leaving Ascalon, and is often seen by the player in the course of the campaign. After reading a letter sent to him by Master Togo, the player accompanies him to the land of Cantha, in the second campaign. He is part of the foreign aid helping Elona in the third campaign. Finally, he is a henchman available for aid in the expansion.
Prince Rurik was one of the leaders against the Charr in the first campaign. After proposing to his father leaving Ascalon for a new life, away from the Charr, he is expelled from the kingdom. He attracts as many Ascalonians as he can as he treks to Kryta (player[s] included). After an avalanche leaves him immobilized, he is killed by Dagnar Stonepate. The player fights him in undead form in the last mission of the first campaign. After being defeat, he finally rests in peace.
Shiro is the main antagonist in the Factions expansion. 200 years ago he was the bodyguard for Emperor Angsiyan of Cantha. On the last day of the Harvest Festival, Shiro slayed the Emperor only shortly after to be killed himself. His death triggered a Jade Wind which transformed the Echovald Forest and the Jade Sea into solid jade. Many signs point to the return of Shiro.
She is the descendant of the great Turai Ossa who saved Elona from Palawa Joko's undead army. Varesh Ossa is instructed by her mentor to release the dark lord demon Abaddon and bring Nightfall across the world. She appears in the Nightfall campaign.
