    I can't believe this is actually coming out. I only replayed through Half Life recently, but am quietly optimistic about this. I've been listening to the music samples from the media page for years!

    I'm guessing it will be this message with 2009 replaced with 2012. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

    Black Mesa 2009 Update

    Hello Black Mesa fans!

    We come to you once again with an update. It's now the end of 2009, and we know many of you have literally counted the days down until this fateful month. We are floored by the level of support you have given us and are very excited we're so close to reaching our goal.

    Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release.

    Cynics may now rejoice, bets may be collected, and I think a mod team member has to eat his shoe, but we hope our loyal fans will forgive us and realize that the delay will translate into a better final product that's (hopefully) more easily available to everyone.

    Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn't quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We'll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it's coming!

    The first release won't be the whole game, only up to Lambda Core. I can't quite remember how far that is but they says its 8-10 hours.

    It's taking a while, but it is a fan made thing after all. They are attempting something quite ambitious, and I hope they succeed. As long as it comes out someday, I'm not too fussed about when it does.

    @Korolev: Yea it sounds like they are adding new area as well as remaking the original so that's pretty cool. Can't believe how much work and how many years they have put into this, I hope it works out for them.

    Lots of people really disliked the Xen stuff, so I think it's fine. That's the final stretch of the game anyway.

    I'll eat a hamburger if this gets released in 12 days, 1 hour, and 43 minutes.

    It's so weird that, after all this time, they're finally just going to break it up so they can get it to us "quicker." I'm not complaining, because I just want to play the damn thing and I already know what happens after the Lambda Core

    Puzzle plaforming, a giant testicle shooting semen, and an even more giant fetus baby that shoots lighting balls at you.

    I'd imagine the most difficult part of the whole thing will be coding and testing those last few levels.

    The Duke Nukem Forever of mod's, its going to suffer from that same tech age syndrome as well as these screens look pretty good, but I remember a few years ago them looking amazing.
