This thread will talk about the end of the game. Spoilers obviously.
So Jun rides off with Dr. Halsley. What happens to him? Why is he absent from the events surrounding the Halos? As the only other surviving Spartan other than Master Chief, I'm surprised more isn't being said about him. Can you say sequel starring Jun?
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
Jun's Ending *Major Spoilers*
There is a thread about the games ending all ready.
Also he is not the only other spartan that is alive at that time. You might wanna study up on your Halo lore.
" According to this:Ignore him. Hes just spamming. But there is a thread for this all ready.
"According to the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition Developer Commentary, Jun is still alive. " "
It's cool, The_Laughing_Man was saying that RayMayne was trolling, not you. Your comment was most welcome!" @The_Laughing_Man: Oh, my bad... I actually tried to be helpfull. "
I read through the thread posted but Jun isn't really discussed (just mentioned). As someone who isn't too familiar with Halo lore (beyond what's in Wikipedia and the 4 main games), does Jun appear in anywhere else? He's not heavily developed in Reach, but Bungie (or MS) must have chosen him as the (other) lone survivor for a reason. Can we look forward to Halo: Silent Scope edition?

So, for clarity's sake, there is no cutscene nor in game explanation of how Jun dies? I figured I just zoned out and missed it.

When you get a free second, you should check some of the wild and ridiculous conspiracy theories that've been cooked up over at the forums at Bungie.net. There are lots of users who seem to think Jun is the Master Chief, though that literally makes no sense. At all.

CASTLE base (which is where Jun takes Halsey), is a major setting in the First Strike novel. First Strike is getting reissued with updates in December. I suspect we'll hear more of Jun then.
I also suspect that whole novel will be majorly revised, as the game essentially rewrote the whole battle of Reach as depicted in the book.
" I also suspect that whole novel will be majorly revised, as the game essentially rewrote the whole battle of Reach as depicted in the book. "The way the game wrote it, there was no battle of reach ;p
And interesting, might have to pick First Strike up.... again. Although ive not read it since it came out years ago.

I should pick up the entire series of Halo novels.
There's a fair amount of Spartans that go with Chief on his mission in First Strike, but they were all Spartan IIs, if I recall correctly, so I don't know how they'd put Jun in there. Just write him in? Hmm.
Halo lore is so borked.
" @flufflogic:
"I doubt Jorge is alive, but his death was very uncertain. Basically what happened is they used their faster than light engine to go somewhere but because it was not properly calibrated for the ship it was on, it did not take the whole ship with it. Jorge very well could have come out unhurt on the other side but that seems unlikely.
The Shaw-Fujikawa engine didn't "explode" or detonate. Slipstream is a vector-based mode of transportation, and the engine was recalibrated so that it created a brief, miniature Slipstream portal that lacked any necessary vector. The nature of this temporary portal isn't new to the Halo universe, or to the Halo games. In fact, we saw almost exactly the same thing in Halo 3--the portal that transported the Covenant armada to the Ark.
If we take that situation--namely, the collapse of that portal and the separation of the Forward Unto Dawn into two halves, leaving the one half, the Master Chief's half, in a free-float in unknown space--as a reference point, then there is significant reason to believe Jorge wasn't killed in the initial firing of the engine. The anterior and posterior ends of the Covenant Supercarrier are left falling towards the planet face while the body of the ship is gone. Which leads us to believe that the Supercarrier's body was teleported to some random vector of deep space.
Now, remember, Jorge is inside a Covenant Corvette--a ship much smaller than the Supercarrier--which is still inside or near the Supercarrier's docking bay. That Corvette not only has plenty of oxygen, as evidenced by Jorge's ability to breathe after having removed his helmet, but a fully-functional Slipstream drive. The only question standing, really, is the amount of Covenant infantry remaining on that ship.
So it's actually pretty likely, if you accept all the premises of this argument, that Jorge is alive by the time Reach falls. Where he's at, of course, is probably a near-impossible question to answer, since the teleportation likely brought him to some far off region of unexplored, unmapped space. Much like the Master Chief, Jorge is sort of waiting for an opportunity. Though the fact that the Corvette is still reasonably in-tact makes his scenario slightly less ambiguous.
" Why would Bungie purposely have Jun survive requiring a revision to a book released years ago? Strikes me as odd. My money is on Jun being the protagonist of the next Halo game. "Because Reach already contradicts with Fall of Reach/First strike so much that there would be a revision required anyway.
" @Lies: They are retconning the books? "They have to. *book spoilers*

There's plenty of space in the story for Jorge to survive, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they're going to bring him back heh.
Still, I'm kinda happy that Jorge made it. He was probably the most fleshed out character in Reach, aside from Kat.
Okay, when you are playing as Noble Six, and are about to die you spawn on a platform. If you turn around, I swear I see Jun's dead body. I'm pretty sure this is a glitch or something, but pretty cool, I think.
The entire time-line in the novel is completely skewed from the game as well. From the novel, the beginning of the invasion to the time that the Pillar of Autumn leaves is literally two hours. The Limited Edition Halsey's journal tries to retcon this but it still doesn't jive.
Heck, in the novel, Master Chief undergoes surgery to accomodate Cortana and meets her for the first time on August 29, 2552 and there is not word one about any Covenant activity on Reach; while at that same time in the game the entire Covenant fleet has already been there for 11 days at that point.
Some pretty pathetic continuity control for a franchise with a purportedly extensive "story bible". I don't blame Eric Nylund, he was just going by what they told him nearly a decade ago.
Aye, the books are pretty much out of the timeline now after the game. Seems silly to let that happen.

Sometimes he has the same helmet as Jun, sometimes it's different. It's deff not the character himself though.

" @Teran:I was never a Mac gamer so I only got a glimpse of Marathon at a friends house. I really doubt they would tie the two series together even if it was their original intent to build towards with the first Halo. I think Bungie's uninvolvement with future Halo games all but eliminates that as a possibility. People have been speculating about a Marathon and Halo connection since the first game... I'm personally holding out for a Myth - Halo connection as Myth and Myth 2 are still my favorite Bungie games to date.
"Those are actually pretty solid theories as to how Jorge could've survived. My question at that point is whether or not they'll bring him back in some capacity in the next Halo title. I know a lot of fans have been speculating if Marathon ties into Halo in some form or another, and I think it would be pretty neat of Bungie to tie them together via Jorge being the Security Officer (their armours look remarkably similar), but I'm pretty sure this is just fan wishful thinking.
Still, I'm kinda happy that Jorge made it. He was probably the most fleshed out character in Reach, aside from Kat.
Jorge seemed to be her favorite and she treated him quite differently than the others. Kat came across as the quiet rebel trying to sneak something behind the supervisors back which turned out to be to everyone's benefit. Carter on the other hand was quite confident in his knowledge and his own seat of power. He didn't take any of Halsey's crap when she threatened the strength of the team (by putting Kat in the brig), able to recite regulations like a pro, knowing that in combat situations his word out ranked hers (something dealt with in the books as well), but not so prideful that he would disregard her or hamper her in a way that would harm their working relationship.
Emile and Jun though were off screen too often for me to really feel connected to them. Emile was for the most part the asshole who didn't care about anyone outside the team and Jun was kind of the generic 'get things done' guy. Both could have benefited from a little bit more action, I mean Emile is the badass guy with the skull helmet and shotgun but his two most noteable moments in the game are him letting an elite escape and him killing two elites but dying in the fight... hell if they had given him a dozen or so knife kills more character development wouldn't have been needed because then he'd kind of be in the quiet psychopath archetype. :)
I think it would be pretty obvious what happed to Jun. Just to help out, Master Chief is not Jun! Jun has differnt armor, a different voice and he is a sparten III .Also the Chief apears to be on board the pillar of autumn in the last mission on halo reach I don't think Jun would have the time to change his armor ,voice and cryogenically freeze him self in that time. Last of all WHY THE F*#K would bungie show Juns face if he was infact the Master Chief who's face they have been hiding in all the previous halo games it makes no sence. And hope this coment gets out to all those people that think that Jun is the Chief beacuse he is not it's a stupid idea, just because he look sort of the same and has the same color armour dosent make him the chief.
