Overview
Hand of Fate is a successfully Kickstarted card based rogue-like developed by Defiant Development for the PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game initially entered Early Access on Steam and was fully released on 17th February 2015 along with the console versions.
Featuring both real time 3rd person brawling action (similar to a combat style popularised by the Batman Arkham games) and turn based deck building card game. Though not quite a full CCG (Collectable Card Game) the player receives rewards in the form of of cards for equipment and new scenarios in the story.
The game is heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, CCGs and old Choose Your Own Adventure books such as Sorcery (which was adapted in to an iOS adventure game) and the cards artstyle mimics the illustrations featured within those books.
