HB Studios was founded in July 2000 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia by Jeremy Wellard, former developer at Audiogenic and Codemasters. HB Studios' first game was Cricket 2002. HB Studios would continue developing yearly installments in the Cricket, and Rugby franchises published by EA Sports. In addition to Cricket and Rugby, HB Studios would also develop the PSP port of FIFA Street 2 as well as co-develop the Wii version of Madden NFL 07. In 2006, HB Studios began developing the UEFA licensed football (soccer) games, and developed yearly installments until Konami purchased the exclusive rights in 2008. In 2008, HB Studios released their first brand new title, Big Beach Sports for the Wii, which saw considerable time at the top of the Wii sales charts in Europe.
