    Hogsmeade is the All-Wizarding village that is near Hogwarts and features various shops and pubs. It is also next to the infamous Shrieking Shack.

    Home to famous shops such as Zonko's Joke Shop as well as various pubs like The Three Broomsticks and Hog's Head, Hogsmeade is a frequent destination for relaxation for many Witches and Wizards. Hogwarts students may enter the village upon their third year with the signed permission of a parent/guardian. Harry was unable to attend his first year legally because of this.

    The Shrieking Shack is also located near the Village. This building is said to be haunted, as many people heard screams coming from it. Dumbledore encouraged this train of thought but it was actually because Remus Lupin, a werewolf, would come here for his monthly transformations. The howling would result from being trapped in the shack with no people to infect.
    Also, the true identity of Scabbers, Peter Pettigrew, was revealed as was Sirius Black's innocence to Harry.
