    Homefront

Game » consists of 12 releases. Released Mar 15, 2011

By the year 2027, the North Koreans have managed to unify Korea, annex Japan, and also invade the western half of the United States. As an American rebel fighter, it is the player's duty to help push the NPA out of the United States and end the citizens' suffering.

I knew it would be bad.

A few weeks before the release my friend asked me if I was spicking up Homefront, I replied with a straight  "no"
I knew this game was going to be bad, that's the reason I gave him.
You wanna know how I knew?
It's from the same people who made Frontlines Fuel of War.
I hated this game with a burning passion. Now Homefront has taught me THQ can and should not make a first person shooter.

So did anyone else have this gut feeling?  I know I can't be the only one.

Yeah, THQ is the first sign of "meh". The other is that it's a cheap ass COD clone. Heck, even expensive ass COD clones such as Crysis 2 suck ass. They just cannot walk the walk, no matter how hard they try.

Yeah, didn't like what i was seeing either. They already cut down the prices for the console versions by 20 bucks, so i'm glad i dodged this bullet. Give it a couple of weeks and it's going to be in the bargain bin.
I feel sorry for all who preordered it.

a game trying to follow in Freedom Fighters's footsteps while cloning Call of Duty is a fucking fiasco

however, @Twitchey:   i dont like your logic , because A) Frontlines was a fine ass shooter for an IP of an up and coming studio, and B) THQ made S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Metro 2033 so.. yes they should keep making FPS games.

THQ should of been a flag for shitty game (fps). They are trying to copy battlefield(which is perfected in its genre)and COD (which is perfect for its genre). Of coarse its gunna be a flop because its not the ORIGINAL. Why companies try and duplicate something and try to make something better thats already been perfected is beyond me.

@Ahmad_Metallic:  Hate to nick pick but THQ didn't actually make those games, they just published them. Stalker was developed by GSC Game World and Metro 2033 was developed by 4A Games.

True. Kaos Studios doesn't have the greatest track record. Like Frontlines, Homefront seems like a lot of great ideas that never mold into a great game. I do really want to check it out. THQ did produce 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. They should just have Kaos make a sequel to that.

Frontlines was a great game !
From what you are saying it seems like you have not played homefront and also makes me think you probably didnt even play frontlines ?

I also think some of the lower scored reviews seem to be coming from americans who just dont like the story.

I was never going to get it, but it kinda scares me how much metacritic controls the industry now. I'm still kind of interested in the new Red Faction though.

I knew that it would be bad when I saw it being advertised everywhere. My thoughts were confirmed when I saw a van outside GDC coated with Homefront and a televisions setup. My initial reaction was "why do they have Call of Duty playing in a Homefront truck?"

Ok, so I didn't really think that. But I really wished that I had as I was leaving. It would have been way funnier.

@Laketown:  Saint's Row is an exception. I love that series and I am pumped for Saints Row the Third. Because parachuting as a clown with an RPG shooting at pedestrians is the definition of fun.

@CABBAGES:  I played Frontlines and I thought the multiplayer was fine (not the best, but it was good) but the single player felt boring. I haven't played Homefront yet but I've heard that the single player is boring and anticlimactic but the multiplayer is suppose to be where the fun is . I do intend to rent it just for the sake of multiplayer after I play Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat for a while.

Kaos knows their multiplayer (heck people from the team were part of making Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942) but single player is something they have to work on or just leave alone.

what amazes me is all the fuss the COD series gets (MW-BO) and how much this game gets trashed on, the MP IMO is better than the last 4 COD games and the SP as well.

Hate to burst everyones bubble but saying that this game is trying to rip off cod and shit is pretty dumb. Kaos studios (before they were kaos obviously) created Desert Combat which basically created the foundation for all the modern military shooters we have today. Desert Combat --> BF2 ---> Cod4 and beyond.

I hate sounding like an old man but I wish people knew their history and where shit comes from.

Bad? That's a tad over doing it. It's no where near being a "bad" game.

    I liked Darkest of Days.

Yeah, I said it. It's almost startling how much I'm willing to play anything that doesn't try to be COD.

So to put it simply, if Homefront really is just more COD, I'd rather play Darkest of Days.

yeah but Darkest of Days was hard to take seriously in every respect. Homefront is trying to but the campaign is so backwards and awful in its execution that that's what's makes it a "bad" game

I thought the idea was good since I enjoyed Freedom fighters on gamecube but this looked like crap from the start. I just rented this game from redbox for a wopping $2 and am regretting it as i put maybe an hour into it on veteran and already finished 5 levels without more then a few deaths. The controls are like every other FPS, shooting has a damn auto aim function which makes things to easy. sprinting is slow as shit, enemies can shoot through anything while you cant shoot through anything but a very open space with nothing in your way.. including a white picket fence. Your enemies also never miss which makes things just take forever. I hate this game with a passion and i hope another one of these NEVER show up. To many shitty games are coming out. This is a crap game that is being used to sponsor companies and products like Hooters, TigerDirect, Nos, FullThrottle *Blue demon* and Fender. They are not little pieces of paper on the ground but rather actual buildings with the names Everywhere or billboards or soda machines that are full color and have no damage to them while everything around them are blown to shit.
