Detective Inspector Hector is a police officer in Clappers Wreake, the "cistern of the Midlands". Hector has poor people skills and worse personal hygiene, but he is the man the rest of the police force turn to when a hostage crisis erupts in Clappers Wreake. In the first episode of the Badge of Carnage series, We Negotiate with Terrorists, Hector goes about fulfilling three of the terrorist's demands to clean up the town. After accomplishing these tasks, Hector enters the building to negotiate face-to-face only to walk into a trap.
Character and Personality
The influence of numerous TV detectives can be seen in Hector's character and personality, arguably the most dominant being Gene Hunt from the
Life on Mars and
Ashes to Ashes series. This is evident in his vulgar language and seeming disregard for both his colleagues and civilians.
