Jet Set Radio is ranked among one of my favorite console video games of all time, mainly because of its timeless graphics, the style, and the music. But what makes me love the game the most are the stylish and unique characters - each appealing to the player in their own unique way. The character styles, such as Beat and Gum's, are absolutely original and are recognized as some of my favorite video game character outfits.
I am surprised it took Sega this long to release an HD port of the critically acclaimed Jet Set Radio. Then again, the company has made some disappointing decisions in my opinion, such as the stupid March 2013 delay for Anarchy Reigns (the game is fully translated already!) and HD ports for games that people most likely did not ask for. Who would take Sega Bass Fishingover ChuChu Rocket or Skies of Arcadia? Anyway, Jet Set Radio is finally here to tease our nostalgia for the game, but is nostalg...
When you think about it, there are a lot of similarities shared between Jet Set Radio and the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. Both had unique graphical styles, incredible soundtracks, were heavily focused on gameplay through momentum, and were in tune with a lot of things that were "cool" in their era. But for however important and iconic the original Sonic the Hedgehog was to Sega, I think it is important to recognize that it was also not a stellar game. Like the first game...
