you dont even need to play the first one believe me.
and yes, just cause 2 is sooooo much fun. if i could only play one dumb open world game, JC2 would probably be it.
Just Cause 2
Game » consists of 16 releases. Released Mar 23, 2010
Rico Rodriguez returns to explore another autocratic island nation in this explosion-laded followup to Just Cause.
Just Cause 2 WOW!
@Tennmuerti: Obviously you barely played the game - there's like a dozen tanks or more. Every open world game has repeated mission types but JC2 has plenty of standout missions which are completely singular.

I finished the game. Saw 0 tanks.
It had black tank-ish APCs@SeriouslyNow said:

Yea saw plenty of those. But no tanks.
Yea APCs that's what I meant, not really tanks but as far as this game went they're the closest we have.

JC2's world is indeed gigantic - just over 1 square megameter, roughly 25 times the size of Oblivion's (and Skyrim's, presumably) world, for example. It'd easily be too big if it weren't so easy to get around on a whim via the grappling hook and parachute.
All that space filled with so much copy pasta.
I would argue there is very little copy-pasting going on in JC2 for the size of the world. I mean, yeah, various destruction targets like gas stations all look the same, military outposts mostly consist of a few variations of standard layouts, oil rigs are all exactly the same, etc., but those are small examples in a world that otherwise consists entirely of unique landscapes and city/village layouts, unlike something like, say, Boiling Point.
Just beat Just Cause 2. My take is that you can only run around bases blowing things up and dodging bullets so many times before it gets old... but the missions where you actually have some structure to use the toys in didn't get old.

Just Cause 2 is the greatest "fuck it I have nothing going on, lets see if I can't knock out a percent or two of completion in the next 6 hours" game.
