Hopefully it has good shooting because oh lord the shooting part of JC2 sucked. Otherwise, JC2 was plenty fun. Can't wait to stand on jets and do loopty loops around bridges again.

I was in the same boat as Jeff in that the gameplay never quite clicked with me, yet I was always impressed by the crazy stories I'd hear about the multiplayer mod. I hope I can "get" the controls of this one.

Given all the leaked screenshots of F2P microtransaction components in this...I'm worried.

Here's a secret: These games are pretty bad.

JC2 is the best podcast game is the world. I'm dead serious when I say I got to 99% map completion in that game, got like 379/378 of the towns cleared (yes, there's an extra one), got every single briefcase, drug, and skull for each of the factions, and thousands of the upgrade parts for health, vehicles, and weapons.

With that said, I REALLY hope they don't go too far off the path that JC2 had. I would love to play more Just Cause while listening to podcasts.

"Hot Damn" is not the word phrase I would use to describe Just Cause 3, if those rumors about it's deep monetization structure are true.

I saw those too. Timers, currencies, best deals galore. Just Cause is a great series but increasingly concerned about the trend towards full priced games with freemium mechanics built in from the ground up.

@bozz0: Avalanche has two studios. The one in Sweden's been working on Mad Max, this one that the set up in New York has been making JC3 for the past 3 years.

Part of what i love about 2 so much is how technically brilliant it is, it's still a game where it doesn't matter what you're doing it just looks and runs incredibly well on any platform at all times.

JC3 is going to have to overflow with polish to be able to stand next to its predecessor.

The thing is that in the supposed leaked Just Cause 3 screenshots there was a screen which strongly implied that the game might have microtransactions.

So the next Just Cause 3 game might be free to play with stuff to buy. Not sure if I like a Just Cause game which has microtransactions. Especially if you can buy better weapons faster with cash.

I'm not going to ask the "Am I the only one?" question, but I found Just Cause 2 to be completely boring and lifeless. The stunts were only fun for a couple hours for me. And after I was done messing around with stunts, it turned into a GTA 3 style "blow something up and run away from police" and "find 400 collectibles scattered around the map" type of thing, which I'm not a fan of. I didn't like the way the shooting controls felt either. It felt really floaty and imprecise. With all that said, I'm still willing to give this third game a try. Better technology and a now more experienced Avalanche Studios makes me hopeful that this will be the one for me. I'm more interested in their Mad Max game though. Hopefully both games will be good!

In case yall missed it, the JC3 devs categorically denied that this game is free to play. They did not talk about the micro transactions though.

Nah man I'm with you. People talk about games like Watch Dogs or Assassins Creed to be lifeless, soulless sandboxes with no character. Well man let me tell you about Just Cause and it's world of identical looking jungles, poorly handling vehicles and terrible gunplay. The stunt position stuff was really fun but everything else, oh boy, that was not a good game.

It is even worse if the game isnt free to play and still has mictrotransactions. Especially if those affect the single player game. Though I am not even sure if there is one (does anyone know if the game is multiplayer only?).

I saw someone on Twitter joke that Just Cause 3 is taking over the news cycle on the day AC Unity comes out :-)

I talked to a guy who works at Avalanche in NYC months ago and he very heavily hinted this existed. I'm surprised it's such a shock to everyone, but I guess since it was never officially announced, it's still "news".

Never could get into JC2, I hope 3 can pull me in.
