Justin lives with his mother in his home town of Parm. His best friend is a young girl named Sue. Together, Sue and Justin play throughout the streets of Parm, making up their own fake adventures. Justin is very popular amongst the adults of the town. Justin has a strong relationship with the town's museum curator due to Justin's love for adventure and discovery. It is because of his relationship with the curator that Justin learns about how special his Spirit Stone, a memento of his late father, really is. It is also the curator who gets Justin access to some recently unearthed ruins that get him involved with the games main antagonists, the Garlyle Forces.
Justin, despite the fact that he is fifteen years old, is a strong and brave warrior. He transitions from toy wooden swords and pots for helmets to real weapons and armor rather well. He is quite the skilled warrior, especially from the guidance of Gadwin.
