When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same.
Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we’ve decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn’t want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!

Killzone 2 Gets More Better-er This Week

i still think all the crap that people talked about the controls was misplaced - but, if it gets more people to play the game easier then go for it
At least it's an option, because I've already gotten used to the current controls. Might give it a try though.
But the game is SUPPOSED to feel slow and clunky right? It's more realistic that way, what with character weight and all!
so.....they tightened the absurd analog controls and released that as a separate game option? would any other shooter be able to get away with this?
Sounds good I am going to try the game again also Brad i was also turned off to the robot slowness of the movement
Nothing was wrong with the controls. People just blame the controls because I shoot them in the head so much.
Glad about this as a Killzone 2 owner... Too bad I don't play the game anymore.

They gave in. What a bunch of morons Guerrila has.
If you are going to release a game with a certain feature then there must be a reason for that feature. Why? I am ok with any control style, as long as they make sense. The complaints about them came mainly from narrow minded COD players who think all games should be like COD. Is this the people want playing your game? Forget them. They are fanboys and nothing will change their minds.
People stop playing the multiplayer because it has issues like unbalanced classes and design flaws (like give XP for kills, instead of completing objectives in a team based game). The controls aren't one of the problems and never were.

Cool, maybe I will get into the multiplayer, those controls were just killing it for me. Haha, for all you fools who like the controls now, you will see what real first person shooter players are able to do when precision is a part of the game. The developers enjoy the new controls, makes you wonder how they felt about them before?
i don't have much problems with the feel of the controls. been getting my kills and headshots just fine. but as long as the patch doesn't completely overhauled the current controls and is optional, then i guess im fine with it. anyway, Killzone 2 remains the best FPS out right now. i say that with strong conviction!
Hating the controls in KZ2 seems pretty fastidious, it gives the game a distinctive feeling and more to the point, affects the gameplay in a very deliberate and pronounced manner.
Its just a different game from COD4 or Halo. Frankly, It suits the slower pace of the game in general. Again, its a stylistic choice, if you dont like it, then just literally dont play it - theres never going to be a better fast, arcadey shooter than COD4 - so just keep playing COD4. I still am.
The point is dont come out bitching about it with useless sentiments like 'the controls sucked ass' - its akin to pronouncing that Mario would be better if he looked like sonic, or ratchet. Maybe he would, but then he wouldnt be Mario
.
Better or worse, its a distinctive and deliberate feature of KZ2 - and KZ2 only.
The only conclusion I can reach from all this childish nonsense is that developers should get the message that us, the gaming public, want all our games to be totally iterative, recycling features of the best ones and under no circumstances deviate from established conventions, making no stylistic, artistic or distinctive choices - because 'oh no, some of them wont be as accesible as the ones we already know and like'.
Rant.
See, I'm another one the the seemingly very few who really, really dig Killzone's controls. I mean, I'm not great at any FPS, really -- it isn't like I blow everyone away on PSN, or blow through the campaign -- but I can hold my own most of the time and have fun doing it, and I kinda loved the feeling of weight and ... I don't know how to phrase it ... viscosity(? -- feels about right) of it all.
how about an L2/aim R2/shoot option? how bout that shit? like 99% of other FPS's? R3 aim? what kind of shit is that? i'd even take a L1/aim R1/shoot option over a freakin push-in-right-analog-stick-to-aim-retardedness. whats up with that decision?
Pepsicola makes a good point. KZ2 is like an exclusive club--why ruin it by admitting plebs who don't get the vibe? I'm sure the developers of this massive, multi-million dollar undertaking were shooting for that lucrative niche audience.
i hopped back online after stopping for like a month or so. and to my (awesome) surprise, my clan is now ranked 50th in the world!!!! WHAA!! yea dude, fuckin sweet.
The current controls are pretty good imo. My only complaint about the online is not rewarding XP for more teamwork based things instead of kills. This game seems to have been built around solid teamwork yet they don't reward you for it. Still loads of fun though!
I put up with the controls throughout the single player campaign, but I gave up trying to play online. It just became way too frustrating.
I hope this patch makes the controls usable for me.
They say the controls just have a different style of acceleration to make it feel more weighty and realistic.
Personally, I find them to be arbitrarily unresponsive. I just can't get used to them. Others seem to have (The constant headshots I endure and just plain losing every time I play..), but I just can't deal with it.
I guess the biggest problem I have with this game is the lack of split screen. Lack of online split screen is unfortunate (UT3, CoD4..) But complete omission? I can't even sit with my buddy on a couch and play a little 1 on 1.

I didn't find anything really wrong with the controls. And the aiming was about as good as it could be on a PS analog stick. As with anything it just took getting used to, but I adapt pretty well to controls so maybe I'm just a lucky few.
While I appreciate that they were trying to do something innovative with the controls, it effectively made the game difficult to play. The problem with adding "realism" to games is that it makes everything that isn't realistic about the game all the more frustrating.
Wait, am I understanding this correctly? You can either have sluggish controls, or hyper sensitive ones? There Isn't a middle ground? Doesn't every FPS in existence have some sort of x/y sensitivity option on a scale of 1-10. What's wrong with just using that?
The controls aren't that hard to get used to. Just because it doesn't control like arcade fps' (COD4 for example) doesn't mean its broken. And yes there is sensitivity sliders in the control options, but people still like the bitch about it. Still, I'm interested to see what they've done in the new patch. I might take a break from inFAMOUS and give it a shot.
Killzone 2...Kill..zone..2...trying to remember...
Oh wait, that's that game that had the CG trailer from E3. Then Killzone 2 came out and everyone went back to Call of Duty 4 a week later.
Play it off, Keyboard Cat.
Everytime I boot up Killzone 2 I just cannot get over the fact that I appear to be playing a next gen update of Quake 2. Same orangey/brown/black colour scheme, same faux nazi flags. It looks lovely and all but you gotta admit Q2 was quite blatantly an influence on some 16 year old destined to be a games programmer....
Man... people... people are funny. And not in the stand-up comedy way, but in the "can't help but to contradict myself " way.
If a game doesn't change anything in a genre, it's instantly "generic". If it does bring something new to the table, people have no shame in saying "the controls should be more like this and that game".
Why can't people just accept that games are different and feel different? If you can't play a game because you're not used to the controls, I'd say you're just not up for the challenge. Sheer laziness.
