    Great entry to the series.

Like Killzone 2, the visuals are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This time, with a lot more color. As I progressed throughout the game, I found myself enjoying the scenery. I loved the details of the surroundings, the colorful jungles of helghan, the brutal arctic landscapes and the high tech military installations.Whereas Killzone 2, all the battles took place in large cities. Even though I am not a person who covets graphical prowess, this game, in my opinion, is one of the best looking PS3 games to date. The game play was superb. The movements of the characters felt weighty, which I love about the series. The writing was great, filled with twists and great dialogue. Most people tend to state that the storyline is awful or bland, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a ton of guns to choose from and using them to mow down the Helgahst was thrilling. The characters were memorable. Overall, I felt this was one of the best games on the platform.

The beginning the game starts off with two Helghast soldiers who arrive at the Stahl arms headquarters. They are taken into a room where Captain Narville is about to be executed on national television and then the two soldiers reveal themselves as Sev, and Rico. The game then immediately cuts to a cut scene to 6 months in the past. It then picks up right where Killzone 2 left off. There are a couple of new characters particularly on the Helghast side. Jorhan Stahl. He is the weapons manufacturer for the Helghast and is one aggressive dude. You also have the main characters Sev and Rico. As I progressed through the game, I found myself loathing Rico, he became increasingly annoying with his antics and actions. As annoying as Rico was, a thought popped into my mind. I had a flashback of a particular film. The Mist. The women who was preaching about god and had convinced everyone in that store that they had to sacrifice people to the mist. As much as I hated this women, she became memorable, I remember cheering as one of the characters in the movie put a bullet through her forehead. Her acting was effective and the storyline enabled her to become a silent villain. This is one of the reasons why I felt that the writing in this game was tremendous. Rico became that women, I hated him, but I did not wish death upon him, but wishing that he would change. Sev was a likable character and I enjoyed every minute watching him. He was a heroic soldier who made great decisions and was a great leader in the game. Easily one of my favorite characters in any video game.

One of the features of this game that I absolutely like, is that the characters and the weapons have a certain weight to them. Unlike in other sci-fi shooting games like Halo, it doesn't feel unrealistic. As much as I would like to reload much quicker in battle, or move as quick as a gazelle, you can't. You are a soldier who carries grenades, ammunition, an assault rifle, a pistol, and other gear. You are not going to run really fast, you are not going to reload super quick, and you are not going aim quickly. It takes time to master the controls and I like that aspect. It is one of the aspects of the series that I feel separates this from the rest of FPS games. Realism is a lost art, more gamers want fast paced actions, quicker reloads, quicker movements so it is easier to aim. It feels cheap nowadays. This game does not follow that trend.

As with a lot of FPS games, there are a ton of weapons to choose from, and they all are exhilarating. But there are three things in this game that I fell in love with. The Jetpack, the WASP and the Mech suit. The WASP is a multi-firing rocket launcher, a new weapon that I could not wait to use, I was always searching more ammunition so I could use it. One of the best weapons in the game. There is also the Jetpack. What I loved about it was that I could basically fly in the air and glide, while mowing down the enemy with the machine guns that are attached to it. I could use it as a tactical advantage and it was thrilling to say the least. Lastly, the mech suit, I love using this thing online, such an amazing machine. Typing this makes me want to go play some multiplayer on Killzone 3! Anyways, the melee system has been tweaked. You can do what is called "Brutal Melees" where you are able to string together combos, which was really cool. These are a few of the features that were really fun to use.

While I may boast about how great the campaign is, the multiplayer component was disappointing and failed to live up to expectations after Killzone 2. There are no more lobbies which was pretty disappointing. The one feature I liked about in multiplayer is the ability to create and host your own rooms are now gone, and what replaced lobbies was matchmaking and that was an epic fail in my opinion. Matchmaking failed fill games, and most often, I was placed in a match with barely anyone in the game. I felt like it failed to fill games. The community was disconnected and it was just a huge disappointment. The sad thing was that the game modes and the actual experience was great. But I digress.

Even though there are a ton of critics out there that may state that this game is bland, boring, disappointing, you should at least give it a try. I enjoyed the game and I felt it was on of the best games this generation.
