Overview
The Hindu goddess of love, agriculture, wealth and pleasure, among other things. She was the third thing to come forth from the Sea of Milk when the gods churned the ocean, producing Amrita.
Upon each of Vishnu's reincarnations, Lakshmi was said to reincarnate right alongside him. When Vishnu came forth as Rama, she emerged as Sita, as he was Parasurama, so too was she Dharani, and when he was reborn as Krishna, Lakshmi was reborn as Radha. She is usually associated with the Lotus flower, and her many epithets are in some way related to the flower, such as Padma, Kamala, Padmapriya, and numerous others.
