The BBC has always been a bit odd with eSports. Only in January did they have a video special on BBC Radio 5, don't ask how the BBC does things, called "Cyber Athletes - Are E-Sports a Legitimate Sport?" which featured players from Dignitas and its Owner discussing eSports before abruptly cutting to people who would dissent that opinion for twice as long. Flash forward about 9 months when League of Legends came to Wembley Stadium and BBC Sport and BBC Three got together to cover the event and they covered it in full, even if it's only through streaming on their website. The entire presentation, outside of the match itself, very much reminds me of the way they present and treat F1 alongside a much more respectful discussion of the current state of eSports, the money and the love involved in it. Then when they begin to present the match it looks like a twitch stream you would be accustomed to but with the commentary tailored somewhere between the "newbie" and the avid fan where they explained in more general detail what was happening rather than using the more LoL/Moba/E-Sport type terms which made it very approachable.

Truthfully the content of the broadcast itself isn't greatly noteworthy, though I appreciate a more beginner friendly casting style, but simply the fact that the BBC is willing to bring on e-Sports even if its just as a website based Livestream speaks volumes for the progression of "e-Sports", alongside things like ESPN3's recent Heroes of the Dorm presentation and the upcoming TBS weekly Counter Strike GO show.
The below video includes some of the pre-game discussion to at least show you some of how they were approaching this. Unfortunately there dosen't seem to be a great way to watch the whole event especially the "roaming reporter" parts but its the best indication I can find.
