    Personality

"You crushed freedom in Daein for years! Do you even have a conscience?!" -- Leonardo, when fighting Numida

    Leonardo and Edward
    Leonardo and Edward

He is often described as the opposite of his best friend, Edward. He is usually calm, serious, mature, and quiet. He also tends to nag Edward regularly because of the myrmidon's recklessness. He's also been trying to teach him to be more responsible. Like Edward, both train regularly to reach the goals they've made for themselves. Both boys also hate wars, while Leonardo's hate is more specific as he does not like the senselessness of them. On occasion, he can be a bit pessimistic and bitter, but that rarely surfaces as he is quiet by nature. He is very loyal to his country, Daein, and he looks up to Nolan because of the older man's experience in battle. Leonardo's friendship with Edward is also further emphasized in a base conversation in Part Three when Leonardo gives Edward the Tempest Blade as a gift and tells him that they are each other's friend and family.

    Military Affiliation

Leonardo is also one of the first characters available in the Part One Prologue. Therefore, as another member of the Dawn Brigade, he sides with Micaiah. Since he is also one of the new characters introduced in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, he is not familiar with anyone from the Greil Mercenaries or Crimean Knights in the prequel game, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, so he will not be recruited by anyone until Part Four when all sides are on equal terms. Then, the player can choose to put him into one of three armies.

    Story

There is not a lot of information for Leonardo in the game, however, there are some notes by the released designer that tell of his past.

In the notes, it is revealed that Leonardo is of noble blood. His father and older brother were lost in the Mad King's War, and became orphaned when his mother soon followed. Leonardo was studying in a military school at the time. After Daein lost the war, the Begnion Occupational Army is given permission to do as they wish with the school. Everyone in the school was sent to prison camps, so Leonardo escaped with some of his fellow students. Unfortunately, his fellow students were captured one by one until only the archer was left. He ends up being cornered by the Occupational Army, but was saved by Edward. And of course, that was the first time they had met and became best friends from there. The two still have to flee from the Occupational Army, however, until they are rescued by Nolan. Later, all three meet up with Micaiah and Sothe to form the Dawn Brigade.

    Supports

Like everyone in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Leonardo can have a support with anyone he spends a lot of time with.

In his C support conversation, he advises the unit to watch out for his or herself. In his B support conversation, he asks if the unit would mind teaming up with him. In his A support conversation, he tells the unit not to die or he wouldn't know what to do with himself and expresses that he wants the war to end with both of them safe and sound.

Considering the bond he has with Edward, a bond support between the two would be expected. However, they do not have a bond support for whatever reason. A bond support is a percent that goes to the unit's Critical and Critical Evade rate. They are usually between two characters that have a deep bond. For example, Oscar has one with his younger brothers, Boyd and Rolf, and Muarim has one with his adoptive son, Tormod.

As it turns out, there is some unused content on the support system for Radiant Dawn. If Leonardo were to have a support with certain characters, then he would have a full-length support conversation in the A support conversation only. Of course, the full-length support conversation for the A support was cut out. This may be due to Ike and Micaiah having an immense amount of potential A support conversations...and either of them alone would be too many.

The characters that were planned to have the special support conversation with (and the possible reasons) were:

    • Edward (Edward saved his life. They're best friends. Obvious)
    • Fiona (no clue)
    • Leanne (Edward was also planned to have a special support with her)
    • Micaiah, Sothe, and Nolan (Leonardo is part of the Dawn Brigade)
    • Pelleas (Pelleas is the ruler of Daein; Leonardo fights to save his country)
    • Skrimir (Skrimir is hot-blooded. Leonardo keeps his cool)

    Class

Leonardo starts as a level four archer. When he reaches level twenty-one, or uses a Master Seal at level ten, he will promote to the second tier Sniper class and gains the Critical +10 skill as well as the ability to use crossbows. When he reaches level twenty-one in the second tier Sniper class, or uses a Master Crown at level ten, he will promote to the second tier Marksmen class and gains the Critical +15 skill as well as the Master Skill, Deadeye.

In the Marksmen class, he is given a range boost that allows him to shoot arrows 2-3 spaces away. However, shooting from three spaces away will lower accuracy. Furthermore, he is only given that range boost with most bows, but not with Longbows (which already shoot 2-3 spaces away) or crossbows. It is still quite the advantageous ability, and fans have dubbed it the "longshot" ability.

He comes with the preassigned skill, Cancel.
