Since most of you know it, I'll skip the Story explanation
We can all agree with one thing, Marvel heroes rock! Sure, this game doesn't topple any records or cross any boundaries but it does find a way to glue you to your couch.
The first MUA was the game of games as far as Marvel games went and this is no different. Sure, the common complaints are for the RPG elements being stripped down. But really, did you want to keep picking up the same items 10 times and trying to find a character to wear that item... and god forbid you wanted to have two characters switch items. Don't get me wrong, I love heavy RPG elements but that's not really what this game is about. Not to mention that the RPG elements weren't done the best in the first one anyway.
But what is there in MUA 2 is awesome. Too many Medals to count to upgrade your team that will never change no matter what characters you switch out, collectibles that'll constantly have you looking over your shoulder and around corners, and of course the power upgrades. Oh how I love seeing the difference that just a few markers in Storms Lightning ability improves her strength.
As you first step into the game it is nothing less that exciting. The story starts out exciting enough (even if you're like me and don't keep up with the comics) to keep you interested and the waves of enemies are a blast to take out in whatever interesting ways possible. But, just like the first one the excitement lingers into repetetiveness. Now in most other games this would be bad but since you have handfulls of characters to switch to to change things up, it keeps the repetetiveness at bay long enough for you to finish the game.
The Fusions between characters are a nice add-on but seem to be almost too powerful at times. The one I seem to depend on most is between Storm and Gambit. Storm makes a giant tornado and Gambit throws card after kinetically charged card into the whirlwind where the enemies are being picked up. Even in a room that is littered with enemies from end to end, this one fusion makes short work of them all. Not to say that the fusions aren't a fun thing in itself but the risk factor just isn't there like it was in the first MUA (i won't even mention Wolverine).
I know I seem to have been griping a lot about MUA 2 but all in all it's a solid game. The game takes a pretty lengthy time to get through. You'll also have the simulator missions as long as you've managed to pick up all the collectible discs throughout the game. Not to mention the New Game + feature so you can go back through and make your Marvel Heroes feel like they're supposed to... powered up beyond every expectation.
