Are you happy with Mass Effect 2's ending? Who died in your game? I thought the ending was alright aside from the final boss which was kinda unnecessary. I also chose to save the Collector's Station.

The Ending/Spoiler Territory
" You fight a Giant fucking Robot Torso. ......Seriously. Nobody died. "SPOILARSZZ!!!!!11
Yeah the ending was pretty good, I chose to destroy the station making the illusive man very unhappy.
@EpicSteve:
I also did not understand that.
I managed to keep everybody alive, and I blew the crap out of the Collector's Station. The Illusive Man will have to work for every advantage, he don't get it for free.
I purposely chose Miranda to lead the first fire team because she was un-loyal. This caused both her and my specialist (Tali) to die randomly. Miranda's body was shown laying in the Collector's Station after the final encounter, and Tali was shot apon closing the door in the beginning.
I lost Legion and Samara. I liked the ending... I thought it was quite satisfying. As for the actual boss...sure it wasn't an archnemesis like Saren was in the first game..but that was to be expected. The collectors were evil beings. Sucking up human colonies and then processing the humans for energy to build their human powered reaper? That's just nasty. I deserving final boss in my opinion.
I also blew the station to hell. May do something different on this second play-through I am working on now.
First run through the game Legion died, due to siding with tali during their argument and destroying the Geth as oppose to "saving" then.
Second run everyone lived as I made sure to use the unlimited paragon point glitch to defuse the two big arguments. Ending was pretty sweet killing the half made T100 in one shot with the nuke gun was kinda sad though. Destroyed the base both times as it was made pretty clear The Illusive Man is probably your enemy in the next game, though im just now starting my Infiltrator run on Insanity for the achievement so i'll probably keep the base on that one.
I liked the ending. It was not quite as epic as ME1, but you can see that the impending consequences of your choices will be massive. No one died in my game.
I upgraded everything and had all loyalty.
I chose Jacob to be the second team leader the first time around. Jack and Miranda were bickering about who the leader would be, so I had to go party neutral on that choice. I then chose Legion as the tech specialist. I figured if anything can hack computers quickly... it would be another computer.
Second time around, I chose Miranda to be squad leader. Samara over Jack to be the shield bubble, as Jack's use of biotics seems to be more about attacking than defending. I chose Garrus to escort Dr. Chakwas back to the Normandy because 1) He and the doctor know each other from the first game (giving a sense of safety) and 2) Garrus can kill mofos like no other.
In taking out the human reaper, I just picked Tali and Jack. I didn't really know what to expect, so I wanted a balance of biotics and tech. That fight was way too easy if you had the M-920 Cain. Two shots took it down.
" I didn't understand the purpose of the Giant Human Reaper, I guess Mass Effect 2 will explain race-specific cyborgs? "IDE hypothesizes that it's the means of Reaper reproduction. Also "we are you genetic destiny" makes it sound like the Reapers provide the races they destroy with a weird kind of immortality - by melting them down and turning them into horrible space monsters.
Thane, Legion, Jack, Zaeed and the crew members died. My ending was grim.
I feel bad too, all I can think about since I beat the game is how I could have saved them, but didn't. I seriously applaud Bioware for taking this risk, the fact that Shepard can die is just icing on the cake too. As soon as Jack died, (she was the first to go.) I knew bad things were going to happen, and that last mission was incredibly intense since I figured just about anything could happen.
@Toxic:
I think it has to do with why the Reapers harvest in the first place. Did you notice at the very end, last scene, where all the Reapers were coming to the Milky Way? They all looked different from one another. I'm thinking that the Reapers harvest each race so they can create a new Reaper dedicated to each race as kind of a monument of power. So, if Sovereign was to actually activate the Citadel and let the others through in the first game, at the end of this harvest cycle there would be new Reapers which resemble Krogan, Humans, Asari, Hanar, Drell (Maybe not drell because there are so few, or maybe they'd make a small Reaper who knows), Salarian, etc. They must have to seperate the genetic paste, or they get the Collectors to do all that dirty work for them. So, all those Reapers you see at the end could have been whole races that used to exist and now do not anymore... the story of Mass Effect is so depressing!
Then again, they're probably going to explain all of this in ME3.
The ending was so grim, even though I managed to save all my guys. I really can't wait for ME3! :D
I think its something like because humans proved they were superior by destroying a reaper, making a Reaper out of humans would somehow make the Reaper better. I think?" I didn't understand the purpose of the Giant Human Reaper, I guess Mass Effect 2 will explain race-specific cyborgs? "
Only Thane died for me (I still hate myself for making the stupid mistake that caused it). I destroyed the Collector Base.
Jack and Mordin died. I don't care about Jack, I was kinda hoping she would eat it at one point anyway. But my god, Mordin, why Mordin. Also last boss looked like a T-800 and sounded like megatron, so yah that was sweet. One shot to the gut with a M-920 Cain and a few pistol shots and it was all over, oh and Garrus sniping with armour piercing rounds helped. I chose to blow up the collector base, but I'm excited to see what would happen in ME3 if you chose to keep the technology.

Jacob and Jack died for me. I don't understand why it chose them to die seeing how I used Jacob the entire game and he was with me fighting when he died. Whatever. Guess it didn't matter who died, ending would be the same I assume since it didn't really make a big deal about both of them dying. Shepard was kinda like...oh well and moved on.
Dude you just kinda fought a giant terminator.
And then the absolute end was AWESOME. I mean when you see like thousands of reapers just warp in. It is so on.

" Nobody died and I blew up the ship. I was very careful in my choices. There was a cutscene with Garrus looking bad, but it was nothing. Does half your crew die no matter what. Losing Gabby, Kelly and some others are just as painful if I lost any team members.. "
You took too long getting to the Omega relay after they were kidnapped. I just went immediately after, since I didn't want to do any side missions at that point. It's worth it- someone needs to feed those fish. Hell if it'll be me.
Only Morin died. No idea why. All he had to do was NOT get shot. But no, he had to ruin my perfect ending.
I thought it would be enough to get all the ship updates and everyone loyal. Guess I was wrong. But when I asked him about upgrades he said he didn't had any. Hmmm. Guess that means no ME3 for the dear doctor. ( At least for me.)
I put Miranda down as Fire Team Leader and later on as squad leader I also took her along for the Reaper. She's my girl.
Then Legion as Tech, since I thought he be good at it and didn't want to risk Tali.
Zaeed to escort them out, needed someone strong but not someone I might need later on.
I took Samara for the bubble since she seems the most powerful biotic of them all.
Also took Grunt with me for the final battle.
Destroyed the station.
Already plan on a Renegade who keeps the station, seems to me that's going to decide a lot. Looking forward to ME3, they have a lot of work. So many variables from both ME1 and 2. You can already have tens of different settings just with who is loyal and who's not.
Also let the Geth upload the virus in the Heretics. I hope it plays out as well as with the Rachni.
Has anyone destroyed the station with a non-loyal Miranda present? Cause I took her with me and so the Illusive Man ordered her to shoot me. Luckily she didn't.
And the return to active duty achievement, is that when you keep working for Cereberus? (Which I imagine you do if you keep the station) or if you continue after the game's finished?
" OMG! Maybe the consciousness of all the people who were part of the Reaper lives on in the Reaper, except it's being controlled by a greater good (evil)! AHHHHThere is dialogue from both Legion ("One ship, one will, many minds.") and Soverign ("We are each of us a nation.") that implies this is the case.
Just specualtion, durr.
nobody on my team died, I devoted a bunch of time to getting the best of everything for the ship and my team and being as good as possible.
I had miranda as squad leader both times and nobody died, the other two or three choices seem pretty obvious...like tali/legion for the vent etc.
I totally got to do thane though which is pretty awesome...what an absolutely great character, I don't think ive ever seen anyone like him in a videogame before.
" @XII_Sniper: Really? I did one N7 mission before I went. ONE. It only took ten minutes. That one guy will never hug his daughter because of a ten minute mission. This is upsetting. "Yep. You're one selfish sumbitch.
Do you have a save file just around then? Beating the last mission isn't even that long.. though I don't know the actual benefit. Will it matter in ME3 or something? We'll see! Meanwhile I want to import a "perfect" save for the 3rd game so I somehow have to find a way to not get Jack killed (loyalty), but so I can bone miranda as well. I need more paragon points I guess... but I'm almost maxed out, and that conflict was so goddamn long ago. Urgh. Newgame + time I guess.
I guess I have the biggest body count at the moment? Zaeed died while escorting crew members back to Normandy, that swarm took Thane after Jacob ran out of juice for his biotic shield and Jack died while I was fighting the final boss.
Didn't really feel bad for any of them, except Thane but he didn't have much time left anyways.
Maybe. But I still had the reaction of: "Really? This was your master plan?" when I saw it." Why does nobody understand the human reaper? It explains to you this in game. The reapers take the shape of the material being used to make them. In this case humans. "
It would have been better IMO if they said it was a giant husk.
"I didn't understand the purpose of the Giant Human Reaper, I guess Mass Effect 2 will explain race-specific cyborgs? "
That was a huge let down. The way they said it, like it was the most shocking revelation of all time (is that a..human reaper) combined with the few seconds it took for me to even figure out what the hell that mass of blue shiny stuff was really killed any impact it should have had. Fighting the T-800 endoskeleton was a bit dumb. It was such a video gamey end to an otherwise amazing tale

That's how I lost Than too. Looks like I have jacob to blame.
Anyway, my death toll:
Tali - after clearing the vent
Thane - after Jacob's biotic shield field trip
Jack - The second team leader during the biotic shield field trip
And I assume the whole crew since I didn't give them an escort.
And all party members were loyal to me
EDIT: I just noticed someone mention the Tali/Legion argument. I totally forgot about that, and I may have sided with Legion and lost her loyalty. That would explain how she died so easily
" @CL60 said:A giant husk, really? That would have sucked. Where would they find a human that big to make a husk that size? I think the last boss was awesome, he was creepy as hell... Basically a robotic human embryo-skeleton with messed up eyes... AND HE USES HIS SPINE AS A TAIL. :|Maybe. But I still had the reaction of: "Really? This was your master plan?" when I saw it. A giant scion-like boss would be more believable for me. They have all the humans they need. Just fire up the spikes and start the blender.
I'm still wondering how they planned the giant human robot to fly.
Where would they place the thrusters? O_O'
Or would it be Ironman style, feet and hands? For that particular Reapers sake I'd hope so.
I blew it up though, it seemed to last minute and desperate to be a fully well thought out plan to process the technology.
yes lol if reapers make themselves look like the races they suck up then SQUIDZ were the dominant race before!!?
" yes lol if reapers make themselves look like the races they suck up then SQUIDZ were the dominant race before!!? "But why are specific races chosen over others? So in a few million years (if your team fails to stop the Reapers) will their be tons of Terminator-looking things flying around the galaxy?
Well all the Reapers look a bit different, so maybe that squid-type form was common at one point the way anthropomorphism is now. Which means they convert all the space-faring races, leaving everyone else (like us 50,000 years ago) for the next round.
EDIT: Or maybe humans are the most awesome this time, so yeah someone's getting annihilated by Terminators 50,000 years from now.
The human-reaper didn't look like just a gigantic robot to me, it just kind of looked like sovereign with a human head on the underside of the ship.
I'm curious why all of you guys seem to be destroying the collector ship. To be honest I'm not even convinced the Illusive Man will be your enemy in the next game, or even betray you. I figured the ship would could only help when the actual enemy comes. If anyone realizes that this isn't the time to fuck around and try to pull some shit, it's the Illusive Man. Unless Cerberus is just the biggest fucking con job ever and the Illusive Man is working with the reapers, it seemed like the right choice.
*edit* nevermind I just went back and destroyed the ship, wayyyyyyyyy better.
