No timestamp because I just remembered right now, and thought it would be useful information for those on the fence about GZ. Seek it out if you want but they literally say nothing else about the game.

TL;DR - Mitch Dyer played MGSV:GZ in Japan for 8 hours, says enthusiastically "there is more to this game than you've heard" and implies even more than 8 hours.

There's so much you can do in Ground Zeroes! While Snake is not doing the main mission, he can:

• Pay his bills
• Register himself online
• Plan tomorrow's work
• Sort some coins
• Re-pay old bills
• Call his brother
• Stare
• Stare
• Moisten his fence wood
• Reposition his doorknob
• Dig a hole to bury a box
• Sweep his lawn
• Offer his spouse/partner a drink
• Destroy his pornography collection

I was reading about MGS lore since this game is coming out and I never played any of the prequel games. So Big Boss got his balls shot off?

Whats this? The internet making snap judgement to the quality of a game and they are wrong? Who'da thunk?

He's a robot in disguise. How else do you think he survives all the way to Guns of the Fucking Patriots?

It's true, they took spare parts from Solidus, who is also a robot, to rebuild Big Boss.

On topic, I knew all along that I would get a lot of time out of Ground Zeroes (because I'm a crazy person), but it's good to see it's not just crazy people that can.

@mb: No it is not. The main story mission is 2 hours there is a lot of stuff to do besides it. Main story is like 10-15% of the game.

Well that's good news. I figured I'd get more than 8 hours out if it, as I love the gameplay in the MGS series.

If anyone else but IGN said this I might believe it.

I got more than 8 hours of the MGS2 Tanker demo which I paid full price for XD

@darji: Yep, I did too. I don't recall how mant times I played it but I imagine I'll be playing MGS:GZ several times over at least.

All of this MGS talk (like the trailers on that Japan Quick Look) are making me remember how much I love MGS bullshit. Like that fucking ladder scene in Snake Eater, which might be my favorite moment in video games.

8 hours or no, I'm playing it regardless.

@e30bmw: Say what you will, but Metal Gear is certainly always memorable if nothing else.

On topic, that doesn't seem super surprising. Sounds like it will have a decent chunk of things to help with the base building in Phantom Pain, so I'm sure there's a bunch of Peace Walker style side missions. Truthfully, it seems like it might be going a lot off of Peace Walker's structure, not that that's a bad thing.

look IGN the website is shit, but are you just flat out saying that Mitch Dyer is liar and did not play it for 8 hours and that there are not other things to do? And I mean he said it on a podcast no one listens to, not some CLICK HERE article-bait.

If I had a Top Ten moments in games the ladder sequence would very high on that list.
