This doesn't explain anything. They simply make us assume this has to do with a dedicated server when, in fact, it could be a hack in a standard IWNet game. 

Haha that actually looks fun if I want to just screw around and not care about the actual game. This is why I enjoy FPS's on pc. You can play serious, but if not hey check out what we can do!

That isnt even a dedicated server like it claims, I really dont think so at least. But if this stuff continues, it is just being shoved down their throat, and its IW and Activisions own faults honestly. Not that they care in the least bit, since its been clear they really dont care one bit about the PC version of the game.

I heard about the news of the game being cracked earlier. This was pretty much inevitable and once again shows how fast those hackers can work.

 i think some of you are missing the point. Dedicated servers is as much about playing the game on a single solid server close to you which provides less latency, the rocket jumping techno is incidental. "

stuff like moon gravity and unlimited ammo are just factors to show proof of concept.

a dedicated server can be 100% "vanilla," offer lower pings, more stable connections, and have moderators to ban cheaters. this isnt the case with peer to peer matchmaking.

While I don't condone piracy, Activision and IW should take note.  Making your game "less fun" than a pirated copy does not fight piracy.

Matchmaking can and does do that well enough. I have had absolutely no problems with lag or anything on MW 2. Matchmaking is simply a simpler version that does all this for you and it allows the developer to protect their investment. Not everything should be in the player's hands but some people just seem to believe that they should be able to modify every facet of the game to their personal taste, which simply is not realistic. "

This isn't showing dedicated servers, just console commands, so lol @ those who shun dedicated servers because of this and therefor show they're clueless about the subject despite some of them being very vocal in past discussions about an issue which we now see they don't know shit about. And for those who do know what dedicated servers offer, sadly, despite some websites providing this as proof of it happening, this is a far cry from an actual dedicated server setup so don't go buy MW2 just yet or anything. Mods are an entirely unrelated and secondary issue. Unrelated.

Until you can actually install a server application on a linux machine as a dedicated server and clients can have a server browser (whether in-game or with a third party application All Seeing Eye style) with which to see and choose between games filtered according to their preferences, the issue remains unchanged for the bulk of the serious PC gamers I’m afraid. For those saying p2p can be equally good, lol, you can’t even play with existing optional rules like “no respawns” on every game type outside Private matches, not to mention a sequel allowing less players than the last game, lol.
