Here goes Johnny again!
Since then, Mortal Kombat has been ported into several platforms, such as the Super Nintendo, the Sega Genesis, the Game Gear and the Game Boy, which this article covers. It was developed by Probe Entertainment and released in September 1993 by Acclaim Entertainment.
It has delayed and confusing controls. It takes one or two seconds for an attack to respond after pressing a button. It also doesn't really help that the Game Boy has the same amount of buttons as an NES controller.
Terrible hit detection. A lot of times you can even kick through the enemy, making the character you are playing as is a ghost.
The music is nothing but a mess of screeches and farts. The fart-sounding music can make it sound like Doom for the Sega 32X's music no joke. Also, bland and annoying sound effects. Every time your enemy or you get hit, the same sound plays.
Special moves are nearly impossible to pull off, due to the controls and the gameplay.
While the Game Gear has Johnny Cage, it doesn't have Kano. Johnny Cage was actually planned for this version, but he was cut out, likely due to the screen resolution of the Game Boy. Speaking of, in addition, slow gameplay and terrible framerate make the game look like it completely lags, like Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis.
Like the other versions of Mortal Kombat, Scorpion, Sonya, and Liu Kang's fatalities stay the same, but the fatalities here are awful. Kano just kicks you into the air, Raiden transforms into lighting and kills you, and Sub-Zero just runs at you and punches you.
You can unlock Goro in the game, and with him, you can beat the game in seconds by just using his stomp attack, by just pressing diagonal up forward, and you will need to do it since Goro plays exceptionally awful. Not to mention, the main fighters and Shang Tsung's names are changed while playing as him.
This game seriously needs to be fatalitied.
