So... i was left with a huge grin on my face at the end of the trailer when they tease Kung Lao's fatality. Graphics look good, stages look good... hell everything looks pretty cool. I'm a little bummed that it's the old look and feel, but I'll get over it when i start seeing some fatalities :P
Sub Zero new move with a ice sword (looked like a normal special move) looked cool. And man I really like the stages
Oh and tag team battles, dunno how to feal about that, but ok :D

One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).
First MK9 trailer - classic look, 2D gameplay, and gore
Looks pretty cool game play wise but I don't know...graphically it just doesn't excite me. It looks very functional. It's only a trailer through so my views will probably change over time.
Nice to see it's going back to being brutal. Hopefully they will do something again (or revamp) on the Shaolin Monks game. Apart from the stupid boss fight with Goro & the rest at the end, I found it quite fun & a great way to expand on the MK universe, now wondering with the 4 player co-op/mp in Crackdown how that tech could be put into some MK game like Shaolin Monks.
Now THAT is MK
none of that real world catering bullshit
Except this trailer is kinda lacking in the blood department for some reason.
On top, the game looks not much different than the last 3D entries in the series. Lame art style, much too bright, too colorful, too clean, too comic-like. Bummer.
" @trophyhunter: The MK vs. DC story was pretty good for a fighting game. "yeah that was pretty good but I want each person to have their own story with their own cutscenes
" Now THAT is MK none of that real world catering bullshit Except this trailer is kinda lacking in the blood department for some reason. "Well at least I'm not alone on the thought of it not really being bloody. Then again it still looked sweet so who cares.
Looks pretty good. Obviously influenced by SFIV (Boon is a big fan). I guess they realised that they'll never get MK fully down in 3D so they just went back to 2D. I'm also glad to see that gameplay is the biggest priority other than having an inconic roster or stage gimmicks.
I also like the way those moves cancelled (its why I'm an EX fan). I hope that they're more liberal with cancelling than they were with MKvDC. I like being able to make my own elaborate combos. Makes me feel like I'm cheating the game (even though I'm obviously not). If they can make comboing both accessible and rewarding then I'm sold.
One thing I'll like to see is the characters having actual personalties in the fights themselves. I want them to say stuff. Sounds like a nitpick, but it would make a huge difference on the tone of the series.
Would this be a good first fighting game for somebody? I know it's not out yet, but I know people say Street Fighter IV is insanely hard.
" Would this be a good first fighting game for somebody? I know it's not out yet, but I know people say Street Fighter IV is insanely hard. "SFIV? Hard?
Who said that? A group of five year olds?
" watching the trailer again, i wonder if those dynamic camera angles will actually happen during the fight, or if it will be stuck in a 2d frame. I dont mean character movement, I mean those crazy camera angles you see in the trailer on some moves "Yeah I see what you mean. It might be a bit strange for one of the players, though. Still, please be good. Also, Sektor is the red ninja with the teleporting uppercut move (although robot smoke has it as well in some games).
Looks fun, unlike the last few mortal kombat games which were lousy and low polygon blocky stupid combos 3d fighting engine trash.
You know... I had to cringe at the fatality they shown at the end. This looks like it will be a fun game though. I have to say, the Mortal Kombat Series has always had a special place in my heart, and I would love to see a new one that brings back the nostalgia of ripping out your opponents heart.
BTW... kinda off Topic. The Short movie kind of made me sad... I really wish that instead of the man in the shadows being Scorpion... it was Kano. It would have made more sense in my mind... and seeing the red eye light up in the shadows would have been a far better scene.
