    I'm excited about it but not going nuts over it. 
    I'm not trying to prove to any of the Staff Members that I'm a bigger MK fan than they are so I'll check out the game at some point

    Yep. It goes: MK 1(no.1), MK 2(no.2), MK3(no.3), MK4(no.4), MKDA(no.5), MKD(no.6), MKA(no.7), and MK vs DC(no.8).   They didnt include remakes/ports(unchained, UMK3, MK Trilogy, MK Gold)  or the adventure(MK mythologies, MK special forces, MKSM)               Hope that  clears things up.

    Make it accessible and incredibly gory and you have a hit. Also have an option for holding back to block.

    This is the first Mortal Kombat I've been excited about in a long time. Still, I won't be picking it up day one. I want to wait a few months for the initial excitement to die down and really see if it is a quality title. Everything after UMK3 is crap, and I don't want to get roped into playing another shitty MK title.

    Every time they're about to release a new Mortal Kombat they say it will be new and revolutionary and much better when in actuality it plays exactly the same as its predecessors.  
     
    The animation in the game is awful and the hit detection basically feels like all the characters have randomly shaped hitboxes (barely making contact counts as a tremendous hit, other times a punch merely goes through the other character). Let's not forget it will probably be unbalanced as fuck with a dozen infinite combos found within the first few days.

    This. I wrote a whole article on the matter. If Ed Boon makes good on his effort to attract the hardcore (and he seemed REALLY inspired by Evo this past weekend), we might actually have a rare relevant MK on our hands. I love UMK3 and all, but I'd like a second MK game to get behind, too.
