    Overview

NAM (known in some retail releases as Napalm) is a historical-military first person shooter developed and published by GT Interactive for the PC (using MS-DOS) on July 31, 1998.

Developed using the Build engine (and built directly on Duke Nukem 3D), NAM is set in the 1960's-1970's Vietnam War. Players control Alan 'The Bear' Westmoreland, a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, as he takes on scenarios against the Viet Cong.

It is also notable for its involvement with Dan Snyder, a former USMC sergeant who created the 1996 "Marine1" mod of Doom II: Hell on Earth as a potential training tool for the USMC.

The game later received a World War II sequel, titled WWII GI. It also received a digital re-release (using DOSBOX) for the PC, Mac, and Linux by Retroism and Nightdive on November 6, 2014.
