Unlike a few other in-world products in the game, it is a fictional brand and not in-game advertising. Drebin 893 and his pet monkey are depicted to drink it frequently, even owning a vending machine for it on their armored vehicle. It is later revealed that Drebin drinks soda over alcohol as his nanomachines break the latter down too quickly to get drunk. Narc is most likely a reference to Policenauts, another game directed by Hideo Kojima, which featured a drug also called Narc.The Narc brand is also used as a replacement for the Pepsi NEX product placement in non-Japanese releases of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
