If they could only fix the dunk contest...
Despite all of the graphical and gameplay additions that made into this year's edition of NBA 2K8, it was the new addition of the Slam Dunk contest that was added that matched it with the NBA Live series. Albeit, it seems to suffer from the same plague which hinders it from setting it apart from the Live franchise, and that's the button combination. Instead of letting you dunk as you would during a regular game (basic dunks with the face button, or more flashy ones with the Right Analog stick), NBA 2K8 requires you to set up, then gallup up to a random point near the basket and then jump in the air, at which point you need to be dead-on with your button inputs, so you don't end up missing the dunk (in most cases) or even better hitting your head on the rim.
While it is nice to have more game options to play rather than your typical exhibition, season, and franchise modes, having the dunk contest seem so unenjoyable to attempt to play, even if you just want the achievements; can detract from introducing new players to the series and take away some of the attention from NBA Live.
