Podoboos are living fireball enemies usually found in Castles in the Mario games. The original ones would only jump out of lava in simple patterns.
Pokey is a cactus enemy often (although not uniquely) seen in the Mario series. It's body segments can be individually destroyed.
Who needs 2D when we've got 3D? 3D, or 3 dimensions, is what we're used to seeing in almost every game these days, letting us do all sorts of awesome stuff like run in circles!

The shark is an underwater animal that is often stereotyped for its vicious killing of prey. In video games, they are used as enemies in underwater levels or a plot device used to keep the player away from the ocean.
A region of high pressure travelling through a gas at a high velocity. In video games this is usually an attack that either stun or pushes enemies away.

Side-scrolling games present the world as viewed perpendicular to the direction the characters are facing on screen. With a heavy focus on lateral movement, objectives are often met by moving from one end of a stage to the other.
Wii titles played by holding the Wii Remote on its side. Such games may also require altering the grip on the Wii Remote in order to perform certain gameplay tasks.
