NHL 2K3 was released on November 10th in North America, and was the first ever online console hockey game, taking advantage of Microsoft's new Xbox Live service. It was the first and only time a 2K hockey game was released on the Gamecube, and neither the PS2 or Gamecube version featured online play.

    Features and Improvements

NHL 2K3 featured a number improvements over its predecessor, including a franchise mode that had users managing their teams paying their players in "Points" rather than a system using real dollar values. The goalies in the game were lauded for their animation, but generally considered too hard to score on aside from the oft maligned "S-Move" that allowed users to score at will with a particular deke.
