    how many final fantasy games are on the ds?? whether they're remakes or spin-offs

    There is FF 3, 4, and Tactics 2.  I think that is it.

    EDIT:  I guess there are more.  Just search for the others here on Giant Bomb.

    Also some FF12 spinoff title as well.

    Plenty of good RPGs on it...worth buying imo.

    I have every one of these except Echoes of Time (I willcorrect that soon enough) so I will give you my impressions of them.

    XII: Revenant Wings - I loved this one.  It has RTS battles and a good story.
    Tactics A2 - It is Tactics, what more can I say.   I just love TBS and the the story of this one is stillgreat,like the GBA version.
    III - I played this all the way through and again, loved it.  The 3D treatment isn't for everyone, but I think it lokks great.
    IV - I haven't completed this, but so far it appears as good as III.
    CC: Ring of Fates - not completed, but looks and plays well so far.  
    Chocobo's Tales - only if you like the side story.  It isn't as strong as the main series, but enjoyed the simple nature of it.  More a budget title.

    If we are talking just RPG, yes, there are MANY very good games to play.
    Disgaea DS
    Knights in the Nightmare
    Shin Megami Tensei
    Super Robot Taisen
    Pokemon D/P/P
    as Pure Rok says - Dragon Quest
    Fire Emblem
     and it really goes to even more I fail to mention.

    Still, I likes me Final Fantasy a lot, but there is plenty of room for others.

    I understand that it is only a Japanese release DS game (where the Wii version is in Englisj - Ihave it,and itis quite good imo).

    yes i think i'll get a ds, as far as i can see it's the ultimate rpg gaming device this gen, as i lost hope in ps3 having many rpgs like ps2

    Well then, ifRPG is your thing (if you look at my games library you will see that is mine), then the DS should be a winner for you - Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest IX to come  :-)

    I am still waiting for any current home console to give me lots of RPG.  I got a 360 for JRPG and expect the Wii to really kick it up over the next year.  By the time the PS3 finally is a reasonable price, I expect their will be enough to justify it.
