Of those choices, go with FF4. However, there are quite a few choices in that genre for the DS. i recommend you go here.

Which Dragon Quest? It's quite a broad category.

Heh. I had the first one and have the second one. The first one had solid gameplay and very nice visuals with fun characters, but the story was a bit weak. Haven't played the second one yet, but it sounds like it's more complicated, which could only be a plus! Back when 1 came out, i would have said it was the definitive strategy RPG on the system, but so many good ones have come out since then.

The World Ends With You is on the DS and it's my favourite RPG ever, but it's not for everybody. If you want to try something different give it a shot, but otherwise you'd be better sticking to the other suggestions.

TWEWY is a good one. You shouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, because i think chances are they'll like it.

I would normally recommend something Final Fantasy related, but I'm going to second TWEWY. Damnit is that game brilliant.

It has a lot of fans and with good reason.

I have played both Final Fantasy III & IV and thoroughly enjoyed them.  I also enjoyed XII: Revenant wings and my copy of Tactics arrives tomorrow (hopefully)  and I see some serious game time with that.

By Dragon Quest I assume you are probably talking about IV & V.  I have IV and enjoyed the little I have played so far.  However, I really played a lot of and enjoyed Monsters: Joker.  It is more a Pokemon style RPG.  Rocket Slime was very good as well.

Hey man, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose  :-)

It just dawned on me... does anyone else wonder why the DS got that Chrono Trigger port? Or any of these other franchise revivals and remakes, like Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Suikoden, Disgaea, Final Fantasy (and Tactics), Pokemon G and S... What about the DS drew these RPG developers?

I'm a Dragon Quest nut so I have to recommend those. You just need a certain kind of appreciation for archaic and charming RPG goodness.

Of the four you listed, I'd say FF4. It's a beautiful remake, great story, they also added a great little feature to help make grinding less painful.
