@mike: I saw your call for one in another thread, and I figured why not? I'm not getting in on this action for a few days anyway, might as well see what everyone else is up to. I'm very curious about the variety; if we start seeing a lot of people post creatures that look near identical on radically different planets, it'll tell me that they need to expand the asset pool to keep the biodiversity at a reasonable level for however many quintillion planets we are supposed to be looking at.
I've been looking forward to this thread for a long, long time. #spaceporn
I actually got you covered on that. I don't know how this happened, but that alien has lipstick.
That is amazing.

Found a Dark Souls looking throne. Even aliens praise the sun.
Also, I know it's a silicate but I didn't carve it to look like that. It just happened.
This thing was like 20ft tall. This moon was fantastic for earning money. I made something like 1.5 million units in about 20 minutes finding and selling vortex cubes. Gotta find those caves on extreme planets!
This place was really pretty. The planet in the foreground was basically the No Man's Sky version of Xen from Half-Life. The moon in the background is where the first picture was taken.
The terrain generation slipped up a bit here. You can see a gap in the world on the right. I wonder what's in there....
Oh. Now I'm under the world. Time to reload a save!
Instead of falling forever, there was a global ocean just below the surface.
This was 10ft tall, aggressive, and an "infant." Not sure I want to meet an adult.
All of these were my favorites so far.
The first two are bigger than they look like 3 meters tall, and if you come close they are PISSED. The last cute one, was friendly as near as I can remember.
Here's a video of me realizing the procgen fucked up and put the door to the NPC that gives you antimatter inside of this mountain so I guess I have to start over...? My space station doesn't sell it and I really don't want to fly around my local planets and just pray that a random lootbox happens to have antimatter inside.

Did you try a grenade? Those clear away top ground very well. Might have worked....I dug my way from one cave to another using grenades. Of, course if you didn't have the blueprint for the grenades that would not have helped.
@monkeyking1969: Yeah no grenades either sadly
Here's just a little sample of sights in my starting system. Although it has flaws this games perfect for screenshots.
Found my first "Paradise" planet, and it definitely lives up to the descriptor. It was especially refreshing after getting 3 planets in row that either tried to melt me with radiation or scorch the suit right off my bod. I'm not even entertaining the thought of leaving right now, but space will call to me at some point. Such is the life of the galactic wayfarer.
I was walking around a bit tired and a bit bored....then I saw this and had to film it. THIS is why I play No Man's Sky.
Man, I really don't like how the randomization works. I haven't seen anything in this thread that doesn't resemble what I've seen in the first hour of playing. I haven't seen anything myself that doesn't resemble my first hour of playing for that matter. Everything looks so similar. The planets, the plants, the creatures, all tiny variations on each other. So far it's a whole bunch of armadillo looking creatures. I've seen less variation in No Man's Sky's universe than I do in one country on this planet alone. It's a big bummer.
@zevvion: I was starting to get that feeling and then I got to a planet where these mushroom-like things with six eyes hopping around on their...sacks? Air bags? I dunno I guess a lot of it is luck. Maybe too much so.
@dr_monocle: i feel the same way. i havent encountered any of the types of creatures or planets ive seen in this thread and ive been playing for a while. however ive encountered crazy paths that lead to space anomolies. so everyones playthrough is going to be different. thats whats great about this game.
Battle Cat to me! By the power of Grey-skull!

I'm not having that experience at all. I've literally not seen anything new since my first hour (really new) and nothing in this thread that I haven't seen before and I only played 4 hours.
I've been taking a lot of screenshots, so I'll shift through them and post a few good ones soon. If nothing else the game is absolutely beautiful.

I present to you something that resembles nothing that's been seen in this thread. Its part of a 30+ (count the green animal indicator dots) viral colony. I killed one to separate it from the colony.
