Does anyone find OF: Dragon Rising a bit disappointing?
I have purchased this game on saturday night and I have been thinking that I maybe made a bad choice in buying this game for £37. Its a great idea in trying to make a modern day war sim that is accessible and doesnt have a very steep learning curve. I jumped for joy when i first heard this game is gonna be difficult in that 1 or 2 bullets can be fatal, but as I actually tried to survive this difficulty, it has been getting me more and more pissed off; especially at the fact my team mates are busy staring at each others arses for half the time rather than making an effort to come and rescue my character who has no more than a shot glass worth of blood left in him. Im rambling on here forgive me, but the online lag in competitive multiplayer and the AI in single player are making me lose faith in this promising title, i really want this game patched and soon...
Gamespot have a review, but like most of their reviews these days, they suck
Im checking IGN now...
Did you try issuing orders? Pro-tip: tell them to cease fire if the map requires stealth (i.e., the second mission). Combat spread, wedge formation should be your default. In multiplayer, new players tend not to issue orders and their AI teammates are out in the open bunched up together--easy kills (my online K/D is around 10:1 so far hehe)."

BTW, I played the original and enjoyed it, and I like this game as well. The game feels similar to SOCOM (I played the first PSP iteration), so if you enjoy that , you'll enjoy this. I wouldn't recommend it for people who..well..aren't going to like it. :D
Yeah i issue orders, keep it wedge mostly and for stealth i keep it on return fire only, but still the AI keep getting stuck in doors and walls and the bots dont even do what you tell them to do online aswell, i know its a morale thing but cmon! lol

Heh.
i'm happy that they're able to get *some* kills and I did get healed by an AI squad-mate in multiplayer after issuing 'Medic.' In BF:BC, your squad-mates are there just to annoy you.
They couldn't have made the SP any easier without making you invincible. You can stop yourself bleeding with the medkit, no need to wait for a teammate to do it. Issuing orders to your teammates seems entirely optional for the most part.
It's a decent enough game, but the OFP tag is pretty misleading. The two games have little in common.
" Issuing orders to your teammates seems entirely optional for the most part. "Unless you're playing Annihilation. Don't issue commands if you want your team to lose. As for the flashpoint tag comment, you're exaggerating. The main difference is that you're not using gamespy to play multiplayer.
" You can stop yourself bleeding with the medkit, no need to wait for a teammate to do it. 'I missed this part of your comment, somehow. When you get incapacitated and are writhing on the ground, you cannot apply the medkit (or do anything BUT bleed) and MUST be healed by a teammate. This has happened to me several times while playing Annihilation.
The game definitely has it's faults, but I think it's a pretty good game overall, especially if you find some good people to play online co-op with.
I wrote up a review for it if the guy who wanted more info is interested. Also, check out metacritic.com for more reviews besides just GT and GB.
" And no, it plays nothing like Operation Flashpoint - It's a lot closer to the old Ghost Recon games. "How? I sunk many hours into the old Ghost Recon games and the original Operation Flashpoint--I was playing mostly multiplayer though. What specifically are you referring to?
" no because I knew it was garbage before hand "It doesn't have hentai so it's not for you, obviously.

Lolz at all the quoting. Ordered the game over a week ago but still haven't had any confirmation or sign of it.
" @Jimbo said:You go through the entire campaign exclusively controlling your 4 guys, there is little vehicle action, the missions are relatively confined and tightly structured, it is a lot less complex than OFP." " @teh_pwnzorer said:Yeah, I played very little of the single player campaign in the original flashpoint. The last thing I remember is being blown up by infantry, while riding in an APC." @Jimbo said:You go through the entire campaign exclusively controlling your 4 guys, there is little vehicle action, the missions are relatively confined and tightly structured, it is a lot less complex than OFP.
