    Background

Founded in the August 1983, Pax Softnica was a company originally known as Imagesoft that operated a mail-order store that sold computer software but was eventually purchased by Pax Electronica Japan where they were renamed to "Pax Softnica." After creating several titles for Japanese PCs, the company quickly hop on-board the NES and Game Boy bandwagons and soon built up trust with Nintendo, to the point where they were apparently considered a second-party developer for some time. As a result, they worked as development contractors on a number of well-known Nintendo games, most notably the first Mother game and Donkey Kong '94.
