I have Resident Evil 5 and really like playing it, but I was wondering if there were any other really good third person shooters for PC, preferably on Steam.  Another big plus would be included support for the Xbox 360 controller, but if not, no biggie.  Thanks in advance!

I actually just downloaded that and have yet to start it.  I am really excited!

Gears of War maybe?

Splinter cell conviction?

Dead Space was pretty good.

Resident Evil 4.

Max Payne and Max Payne 2. Yeah they are old games but they hold up.

Saints Row 2

Just cause 2, that game owns so much. Tha'ts my recommendation, it's way more fun than saints row 2 suprisingly.

Fucking A - I'm still in the middle of watching the Quick Look for Just Cause 2 and it's FUCKING AWESOME.  It almost reminds me of Uncharted a little bit...with the shooting.  But since I don't have a PS3 or 360 anymore and made the move to PC, I have been unable to enjoy Uncharted. 
 
Yea, I think the next two purchases tonight are Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Just Cause 2

Here's a few that I'm sure you'll really like. They're not exactly shooters, but they're in the 3rd person formula.

Now, the Star Wars games are only in 3rd person when you have the light saber. Everything else is in first person.

If you like RPG's then try Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. You can switch back between 1st and 3rd person view, both of which work great. Also, it's a game about being a fucking vampire.

mass effect 2, gears of war, splinter cell: conviction (only if you are willing to put up with a sloppy port), the rest of the splinter cell series, metal gear solid 1 & 2, resident evil 4 & 5, the latest red faction title, gta iv and its episodes, dead space, i guess fallout 3 counts if third person is preferable in that game. i'll update this if anything else pops into my mind.

just cause 2 is so much fun. get it and enjoy it. find the blimp

anything thats a good TPS on console will be good as well on PC if its multiplatform and a good port

I loved it in the ps2, but is it that bad on the pc?  Another good one is also Cold Fear, with the weather effects. Pretty cool. "

You had to aim with the numpad. You have a mouse, and you are forced to use the numpad on your keyboard to aim. That's how bad it was.  Luckily, community made mods and patches pretty much fixed all those issues. Mouse support was added, higher res textures, and more. This thing is still haunting Capcom, even though they didn't do the porting themselves. Hopefully, more people are aware of that fact now because it would be sad if they're dismissing current Capcom games because of that, since their in-house ports are excellent (DMC4, SF4, RE5, etc..). "

Maybe not quite what you were looking for but I bought Alien Breed on Steam and it's been fun.
