I have Resident Evil 5 and really like playing it, but I was wondering if there were any other really good third person shooters for PC, preferably on Steam.  Another big plus would be included support for the Xbox 360 controller, but if not, no biggie.  Thanks in advance!

Good ones I can think of are Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dead Space, and Red Faction Guerilla.

Not really like an actual 3rd person shooter mechanically (though more action than horror) but it is still a lot of fun on the PC.  Just remember to turn off V-sync as unfortunately it is bugged and can slow down the game artificially.  Turning it off ensures 60fps and up minimum for most modern systems at highest settings.

I will say, if you say it is interesting, I will definitely download the demo at least to see for myself.  I absolutely love Saints Row 2 so if you are saying Just Cause 2 is better than that, I am interested.

it's great if you just want a big nice sandbox world, and the main story missions are pretty excellent too.

@rmillz87: Try the demo, it's totally great. I had no idea, I played the demo a few times, I thought it was okay. For the pc version, not sure about the console version, you get like 10 minutes to go anywhere you want. However the game is pure chaos and mayhem. The goal of red faction guerilla was to destroy a town, you can do that here too. You also get a grapling hook as a belt, you can almost go anywhere. Yes you have a parachute, you will be jumping out of planes alot, something that they should of included more with gta games this gen. Also you can get on a motor cycle and launch your parachute where your bike will keep going foward. You can detach your parachute and launch another one infinetly. Also you can stand on top of cars and use your grappling hook to get to other cars. The objectives are interesting, it's like a gta game, except it's really really fun. Look I had no idea until I bought it on steam at half price and it totally changed my perception. It's 86% on gamerankings, which means it's not over 90% AAA (my definition) however it's still has alot of good things going for it. Saints row 2 is only 82-83%.

Fucking A - I'm still in the middle of watching the Quick Look for Just Cause 2 and it's FUCKING AWESOME.  It almost reminds me of Uncharted a little bit...with the shooting.  But since I don't have a PS3 or 360 anymore and made the move to PC, I have been unable to enjoy Uncharted.

Yea, I think the next two purchases tonight are Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Just Cause 2

If you like RPG's then try Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. You can switch back between 1st and 3rd person view, both of which work great. Also, it's a game about being a fucking vampire.

mass effect 2, gears of war, splinter cell: conviction (only if you are willing to put up with a sloppy port), the rest of the splinter cell series, metal gear solid 1 & 2, resident evil 4 & 5, the latest red faction title, gta iv and its episodes, dead space, i guess fallout 3 counts if third person is preferable in that game. i'll update this if anything else pops into my mind.

That was my first thought, right after I threw out console ports. There aren't that many great 3rd person shooters that I know of that were PC games first.

You had to aim with the numpad. You have a mouse, and you are forced to use the numpad on your keyboard to aim. That's how bad it was.

Luckily, community made mods and patches pretty much fixed all those issues. Mouse support was added, higher res textures, and more.
This thing is still haunting Capcom, even though they didn't do the porting themselves. Hopefully, more people are aware of that fact now because it would be sad if they're dismissing current Capcom games because of that, since their in-house ports are excellent (DMC4, SF4, RE5, etc..).

Ahhh i played once at a house of a friend, but i used the mouse already i think.  Didn't knew about that. Not including mouse support was lazy.
