How do I display old games in 4:3 on widescreen monitor?

I can't figure out how to prevent Starcraft from being stretched to 16:10. I have a Radeon card, so I tried going to desktop settings and enabling GPU scaling, but the option to Maintain aspect ratio is grayed out. Is there a hack to allow 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars?

Turn off pixel stretching on your monitor. Also, check the Tested mailbag, I think they go into it in more detail.

Change your scaling options under your video card drivers, both Nvidia and ATI have something that can compensate for this.  The monitor may also carry some form of scaling options.

its called windowed mode.  if it isnt an option in the game itself, then usually you can go into the config file and find something like "fullscreen=true" and set it to false.

Starcraft doesn't have any of that, to my knowledge.

I usually just hack the .ini config file to do that changing the values to my native rez.
