In 1997, Atlus released its first serious stateside Shin Megami Tensei game in the form of Revelations: Persona. (Technically, Jack Bros. preceded Persona by two years, yet it was a light-hearted dungeon crawler released for the doomed Virtual Boy, explaining its lesser significance to the series.)
