The thing about anonymous is that all their members are anonymous. There is no definitive proof that some of the people in anon are or are not the actual PSN hackers so claiming "they" didn't do it without any evidence other than what some random anonymous guys said is silly. Likewise, saying that every "member" of anonymous was in on the hack is equally as silly. This article just proves that they are a completely disorganised bunch that mostly has no idea what everyone else is actually doing." @devil_spawn666 said:

Sounds like you're saying anonymous never did it. For the record, I'm also on the "wait and see" boat as far as the credit card info being stolen goes but saying they had absolutely nothing to do with PSN being in its current state is ridiculous considering what we ALREADY KNOW. I can't believe why you're even arguing that (and continue to do so)
Time for Anonymous to make a big grand public statement about how they'll find the guy responsible and bring them to to justice FOR THE PEOPLE HUZZAH and then finish it by spouting we-never-forget-we-never-forgive-cliche-cliche-cliche-blaaaaaaaaah bullcrap.
I'm arguing because it's stupid to automatically assume that anonymous did it because it's a hack, and yes their hands are clean of this until proven otherwise. They have nothing to do with PSN until factual evidence comes out stating they did, which currently doesn't exist. The only "evidence" is that they DDOSed Sony, and made the real hacker able to get in easier. Which doesn't prove that anonymous did it at all. It just proves that they did what they always do, DDOS something." @CL60 said:

In their letter to Congress, Sony said:" Their hands are clean of this until proven otherwise "
Isn't that proof enough? As @Hailinel said:" The intrduers had planted a file on one of the servers named 'Anonymous' with the words 'We are Legion. "
Case solved. Anonymous did it." By the very nature of Anonymous, if you claim to be a member of Anonymous and do something in the name of Anonymous, then Anonymous did it. "

Can't anybody join Anonymous? So I could say I'm Anonymous, go kick an old lady down some stairs, throw a piece of paper on the ground beside her talking about Legion, and people would go crazy because Anonymous kicks old ladies down flights of stairs.
Actually, I think that's process for how most articles get started that show up on N4G.
" @Krakn3Dfx: You have to get a V For Vendetta Guy Fawkes mask before you can claim to be Anonymous. Once they see that you've gone that far, you're in. "I have one that I wore for Halloween 3 years ago. Obviously I can never wear it again or I'll just end up on the no-fly list.
Oh wow this whole argument over the last couple pages was really stupid. Anonymous is an organisation, an organisation without defined hierarchy but an organisation nonetheless. Anons come to agreements over what attacks happen and when through concensus and respected agreement across their many IRC channels. If a lone hacker group, even one that associates with Anon, did something, it is not the fault of Anonymous, it is the fault of that hacker group.
Also just a reminder for anyone skimming this page; Anonymous did not hack PSN, the mode of disruption was completely different from what they usually do and pretty much every Anon-Representative site or blog has said that the group isn't responsible. Anon is not ashamed of telling people when they make large drastic actions, why would they suddenly all come to the agreement to keep THIS under wraps, especially when Anonymous is an activist group; they do things with purpose, not just to fuck with people.

i never claimed that this latest hack and 'possible' data theft of 77 million registered psn users was conducted by anonymous. i'm not saying it couldn't have been, and i'm not ruling out that someone as part of anonymous or some other 'hactivist' group did it.
