It's impossible to defend Sony in this. They've allowed hackers to access millions of users personal information such as emails, addresses and possibly even credit card details. And it doesn't just affect Sony and PSN users. It's bad for the reputation of the industry as a whole. It's bad for the reputation of online payment systems or any form of database that holds personal information. In this day and age that sort of thing should be locked down so tightly that no one can even think of accessing it. Sony have really fucked up with this by having sub standard security systems and it's totally indefensible.

Losing thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of peoples personal information is FAR FAR FAR worse than a console overheating and not starting up.   You can't even compare the two.  MS did everything in their power to extend the warranty of the 360 and fix and/or replace every 360 that did get the RROD.  How is Sony possibly going to fix the problem of hackers stealing my personal information off PSN?! 

You're right, those two things are not even close to being equal.  What Sony did was violate my privacy and my trust, all Microsoft did was violate my trust.

Don't understand where this assumed 360-biased thing is coming from. They're usually sent the 360 version as a review copy and it's easier, read faster, to invite people into TNT matches.

And yeah, the PSN situation is crazy fucked-up. I'm not excited about having personal information potentially compromised, but as of yet the worst thing that's happened to me is I can't play MK online. 

That being said: 54.2%. That's the failure rate for 360's since the console was launched. Doesn't seem quite the same as a 1-2 week outage of the online network.
