I don't want to be playing a lot of games during the summer because I'm busy with a lot of things but when I do have time to myself at nights after a long day I want to sit down and immerse myself in an RPG. I don't care if its a JRPG or a turn based I just want a good RPG. The only things are I already played Fallout 3 and I hated Dragon Age, not because it was a bad game just playing it with the ps3 controls sucked. So any recommendations?

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
I need an RPG for summer
" Eternal Sonata is an awesome game. "
Final Fantasy 13 is actually really good so far, in my opinion at least, I'm about 16 or 17 hours in and the story is quite good (although, sometimes a bit confusing ) the game is absolutely gorgeous in the visual department, the CGI scenes are jawdroppingly pretty, and the in-game is actually quite good as well, and on top of it all, combat is really fun! But that's just my opinion, a lot of people don't like it...
I really liked Final Fantasy XIII. Starts off really rough, though. First 2 hours are dreadful, then you start gaining xp, then the next 6 are kind of frustrating... and then around chapter 6 or 7 the whole game just goes shithot for the next 40 hours. Maybe a dip at chapter 10.
I rented Nier. Played it for a couple days. That game is... interesting. There's a lot about it that is rough; it looks Goddamn terrible. The combat can be boring, and any side quests are absolutely mindless and without any justification for existing. But the story and characters are more interesting than I've seen in a JRPG in a while. The strangeness of the whole proceeding seemed a vast counter to White Knight Chronicles, which was as tropey and cliche as a JRPG can get.
Of course, if you haven't played the BioWare pair, make that happen.
" @JJOR64: Is Chopin's music actually a big part of it? He is by far my favourite composer and I would actually buy/rent the game if it is :) "It's not an overwhelming part of the game, but seemingly unrelated events in the plot are explained with events happened while Chopin was having his fever dream. Also, there are about 4 or 5 times where they mention important events in his life. I'm not a big Chopin fan or anything, but it was interesting to learn things about his life from it.
" Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls. If you can only get one, get the former. "No, get the latter. Unless you're not man enough...
Valkyria Chronicles; that game has a ton of replay value if you're into finding the strategy to minimize the number of turns used per scenario.
Other than that, Eternal Sonata is a great choice and I'd like to recommend the international version of Star Ocean: The Last Hope--it has the original (as in that it doesn't make your ears bleed) Japanese voice track on the disc as well as the original menu design.
Valkyria Chroncicles: Strategy RPG, but gorgeous, nice story, and some really fun gameplay. Sequel coming out soon on PSP.
Demon's Souls: PUNISHINGLY hard, only for the hardcore. More of an action game with RPG elements than a standard console RPG.
FFXIII: Gorgeous game, a lot of fun, but divisive to the community. If you are open to new things, you'll probably like it. If you are a super traditionalist RPG gamer, this may not be your cup of tea.
Resonance of Fate: Check my review on it here. It's fun for a certain niche of gamer, but again may not be for you.
Sadly, portables are really where the RPGs have moved to lately. Not surprising given their install base in Japan compared to consoles. If you don't mind diving into portables, there's everything from the classics (FF7-FF9. Wow, those are classic now? I feel old) to newer titles like Riveria, Persona 1 remake, and soon Persona 3 Portable. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth if you haven't played the original already is another amazing one.
You are comparing an SRPG and an Action-RPG. I prefer the Action RPG personally, Demon's Souls is a fantastic game and I am glad I own an import and an US copy :p
Thanks guys for all your help. My local Walmart was selling Final Fantasy 13 for $40 and Oblivion GOTY for $15 so I picked those up.
" @Icemael said:Nay. Former. Valkyria Chronicles is badass. Perfect time to tackle it with VC2 coming out this fall for PSP." Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls. If you can only get one, get the former. "No, get the latter. Unless you're not man enough... "
I got to say play demon souls on the ps3,its so challenging had so much fun with it so far have had for 2 days and its does keep you occupied.great battle system aswell
but if your prepared to play a game that is time consuming, harsh death rate, good online capabilities also
so give it a try :P
" Eternal Sonata is an awesome game. "This ^^^
I'm gonna play Star Ocean 4, seems really good and has some better things that the X360 version, then I'll "do" Agarest
" Thanks guys for all your help. My local Walmart was selling Final Fantasy 13 for $40 and Oblivion GOTY for $15 so I picked those up. "You should've went with Valkyria Chronicles like practically everybody was saying. FFXIII blew.
" @RE_Player92 said:As I said in a previous post none of my local retailers carried it." Thanks guys for all your help.
