A "PlayStation 3 Konsole Slim" was put up on the German Amazon store today. Not sure if you guys have seen it. No word yet on whether this was put up by a third-party or Sony themselves. But it appears as if the console is real and it's launch is imminent.
Retailers and sellers like Amazon can be pretty damn stupid sometimes... it seems there always posting pages and listings for products and games that aren't already out, thus revealing it to the world.
But again, no image, no reality. Though it is looking highly likely to come out now.

That's what I was about to say. I think there's a PS3 comming down the tubes but this ain't it. It looks like a joke to me since it shows both a picture of a PS3 and an Xbox360 both being advertised as the same product.
Being a German, I can clear the picture thing up: Neither picture is from by amazon.de itself. Some guy named "Obaid" put up the PS3 one and another one attached a 360 picture, god knows who and why.

Pricing will be interesting. To shrink down the overall sizing costs money, so theoretically, there should be no price drop? I assume the idea of a new design is just simply attract buyers the old design didn't.
In the end I am price conscious and the PS3 is a very long way from meeting my entry point. It started at $1000, is currently $700 and I won't pay any more than I paid for the Wii and 360 - $400 (Australian prices).

Well, now I have :-)
The article is based on a lot of assumptions. We also need to keep in mind that if true, Sony have been making such a massive loss on the PS3, that it needs to maintain its price for profit reasons. Retooling a factory to make a new version is NOT cheap and will increase those costs. It is not reducing the physical size of the machine that will save costs. Reducing the size of the components is generally more expensive.
If they do bring out a Slim, and I believe they will at some time not too far away, it will be for marketing reasons - the loyal fans already have a PS3 - and they would be looking to give the non-owners (like myself) a reason to enter their market. As I said earlier, I am price conscious and there isn't a hope in hell that the local price will drop from $700 to $400, so a Slim won't bring me in.
Still is probably fake. I think Sony needs to work on selling more units now. This would probably cut costs though right? Maybe that would be the incentive.
