When the screen is black you can make out these dark splotches on the screen. Anyone else see this on their vita?

"Black splotches" is kinda vague. All I can make out is my own grubby fingerprints. I'm probably just not looking at it right.

It has to be turned on and on a black screen. If you have any readily handy games with longer black loading screen, maybe a PSP game You will see them.

I see this too, but only on a black screen and only when it's pitch black in the room. Almost any ambient light at all washes out the difference and the whole screen looks solid black. I assume its because the Vita has an OLED screen and some pixels have a darker black level than others. I don't have any other devices with an OLED screen so I don't have any other device to confirm or disprove this theory.

My TV has this same effect. Only in certain lighting is it visible and only during black.

Yeah it's an OLED thing. It's normal.

All AMOLED and OLED screens have this. It bothers some, but not really an issue for me.

Its the screen having uneven power distribution. OLED screens have some improvements to be made still.

My phone doesn't! Unless SAMOLED is wildly different.

This is why all handhelds should use built-in plasma technology.

I've seen this on my screen and wasn't sure what it was. Good to know.

Thanks for posting this. I just bought a vita and thought there was something wrong with it (I'm super OCD about electronic screens). Glad to know!

    Yes.

Really bugs me when the screen fades to black for any reason. They are super pronounced. But when games are running they aren't noticeable.
